  1. The MKS11 Plus is a genuine Voltronics product apparently manufactured specifically for a particular company here. The model number is unique to the company that requested the build. Through them I got the firmware and unbricked the device!
  2. I need to install 77.00 firmware. What is the difference between MKS II and MKS II Plus? I found out the hard way that they are not the same machines when I bricked one trying to give it firmware that would match other MKIIs in parallel.
  3. This makes sense as it suddenly started. Was working ok. I have tried getting another comms card from another unit and connecting on but same problem (Error 61). I know its not the cable as the same Pylontech works ok on a King. Firmware U1 74.01 U2 3000 U3 0000.
  4. I have an MKS4 (Branded Rebel Max). It has been misbehaving on the digital comms side. I was thinking of trying to reflash firmware. This would do?
  5. SUB on its own will do what you want but however it works also based on the settings in Menu 12 (Got back to Utility voltage or SOC) and Menu 13 (Go back to battery). What are your values for these menu items?
  6. @Japie Muller how did you resolve this problem? Dont you mean 1000 as 0001 in the dipswith representing 4,3,2,1?
  7. Indeed you can. You will get 5kWh of storage with +10yrs life vs the just under 2kWh and upto 3yr life of your gel batteries. UP2500 needs CAN port comms with your inverter if you wish it to dynamically control your inverter charging.
  8. I suppose your inverter had no CAN port! Older ones have RS232. UP2500 requires CAN coms.
  9. Menu 05 of Growatt lets you select Li (Lithium) and in the submenu which enables you need to select the communication protocol. So you need to know the Blue Nova protocol for Growatt also make sure the RJ45 cable between BMS and inverter is connected and that you crimp the correct pin-out for your battery side if different for the normal cable. Your batt should have the pin out assignment.
  10. There is an installation with a Growatt SPF5000TL HVM-WPV inverter and a Growatt Hope 3.3kWh lithium battery digitally connected (Protocol L51 on submenu 36 on Menu 05). Installed 02/08 and on Sunday 3rd Oct at 13:51hrs threw Error 08 for first time (High Bus Voltage). There was a loss of grid the night before and eventually the battery was drained and charged from PV. Grid was restored about midday. A reboot cleared the error. On Monday 4th Oct at the exact same time Error 08 was reported. Again a reboot cleared the error. On Wednesday about midday the error reocurred. Strange because there is digital coms with the battery, so how is the bus voltage rising? Observation shows that this Error happens when the battery nears or reaches 100% SOC. What is bizarre is that all the charging parameters are determined by the battery so why the mismatch? Growatt had a supposed firmware with a fix but this failed. It got me thinking about issues with Pylon and Voltronics/Phocos where the inverter would report a Warning 67 which supposedly means that the battery is not charging. BMS would tell the inverter to stop charging but the inverter reckons that the battery is not full. To resolve the argument Warning 67. It is said this error on the Pylon/Voltronics/Phocos is a result of the the inverter and BMS referencing different parameters: Highest cell voltage v lowest cell voltage. At the end of the day when the new battery balances the two match. I have not seen this on such installations so either ignore the warning. Victron had an interesting approach to this issue. It would seem the Chinese engineers thought they could deliver a 15 cell lithium battery instead of 16 and as such the software guys still based their parameters on 16 cell leading to a very high bulk of 53.5V. Victron GX limits this to 52V. I notice that the form factor of the Growatt Hope 3.3kWh seems to be Pylonish. No charging parameters are set manualy on digital coms. The battery will shut down in 20min if the wrong protocol is assigned on the inverter. But a view of settings 19 and 20 are quite high for Lithium in my layman view. They are 56.8V. The battery specs say it has an operating voltgage of up to 57V but still. Could it be therefore that the unreliable voltage by high freq inverters could be sending the voltage way higher than 56.8V? I intend to disable Li on Settng 05 to enable me to change 19 and 20 to say 52V and renable Li coms to see if the BMS will change these settings. Growatt says the cause of Error 08 is complex. So we are looking at an inverter replacement perhaps. Anyone with thoughts on this error? Component failure perhaps speaking to Growatt quality?
  11. I notice when grid is disconnected and reconnected the Changeover is seemingly delayed so much so that the Sony AVR and sometimes DSTV Explora and fibre router notice and reboot. I have surge protected extension codes which also notice the surge. The fridge in the kitchen also notices. I have raised this on the Victron forum too but I thought perhaps someone else in good odd Afrika might be experiencing this. The lights don't flicker at all. Led bulbs seem to rolerate a very wide voltage range as low as 90V so understandable why they don't care! The images show the voltage drop over 3 seconds from 220-230V when grid disconnects the voltage drops to as low as 104 and recovers back to 221V in the 3rd second. At first I thought it was the surge protection but I tested without the surge protection and indeed there is voltage drop during changeover. I am using ESS and there is therefore a grid reference at all times. The grid supply itself is of poor quality and does flactuate. Its the cold season so heaters are on on cold days and load-shedding and power supply guarantees overide quality it seems. Suggestions to be tried include re-activation of UPS feature and disabling weak grid option.
  12. @Youda Just to be clear, I am trying to crimp a serial cable for a UP2500 to ICC and I note the pin assignment is different for this battery RJ11 GND RXD TXD GND Am I right to crimp RJ11 to DB9: Null ---> 2 ---> 3 -----> 5
  13. Question though: What happens when the GX device restarts?
