  1. please post picture of system work mode 2. You said you have 12 panels, what is the wattage of the panels?
  2. i have a smaller setup than yours in terms of panels 3.35kw but i produce twice as much as you do. I cycle my battery to 10% everyday so at night i don't use the grid. I have my geyser on aux port so that i heat up the water to 70 degrees. I normally heat it up to 60 degrees using the heat pump. My whole house is on essentials.
  3. You can't, that information will be on the BMS of the battery.
  4. Check this video, it may help with what you want to do. Video
  5. Isn't it better to get another pylontech battery? It will be more expensive but makes the most sense to me. Buying a 12v battery will probably add less than 20% charge to the one you have.
  6. Item Wanted: MPPT charge controller to charge 12v battery Packaging Essential: No Desired Age: As long as it works Location: Johannesburg Willing to accept a shipped item: Yes Ballpark/Budget Amount: Not sure how much they are but cheap
  7. I have heard on this forum that others have fans whilst others have a larger heatsink without fan. Others have a higher ac passthrough than others but I can tell you which ones.
  8. I suggest you get another installer who has worked with these kind of inverters before.
  9. I don't have a power outlet close to my inverter. Can I power a raspberry pi using a modified cable connected to one of the ports on the Sunsynk 5kw?
  10. Don't you need to change settings on the battery screen as well to allow grid charge.
  11. I agree, some of his videos are not very clear, at least to me
  12. Correct, have a look at this image. It's also charging the battery from the solar.
  13. On my 5kw inverter, this is not true. I can power the aux port whilst charging the batteries from Solar.
  14. You don't need to manually set the charge voltage settings if bms is communicating with inverter.
  15. I have been using an LBSA battery for a year with no issues. I'm quite happy with it.

    Inverters

This thread reminds me of my solar journey. I started with a small Ryobi Inverter generator which I'm glad broke down and I got a refund. I considered a small inverter with a lithium battery to work as a UPS but I also wanted ROI. Once you start thinking about ROI you might as well go all in. Now I have a 5kw SunSynk, 5.1KwH lithium and solar panels and don't regret the decision, in fact it's one of the best financial decisions I have made.
  17. I have tested this and my inverter tripped at 7.2kw or so
  18. Get a Sunsynk and whatever battery you like. Hubble and Pylon are quite popular here. I have an LBSA which has worked very well so far. For panels get the ones with the best price per W obviously this will depend on roof space, inverter mppt specs...
  19. can't imagine having to ground the inverter with an earth spike.
  20. I put E-N bond on mine because when the grid was down, some led lights would remain on (faintly)even if the switch was off.
  21. i just saw this battery puncture test of the different chemistries. NMC is really scary.
  22. Post your system mode and battery settings here. Someone will be able to figure out what's wrong.
