  1. Thank you for all the info. System was shutdown and restarted by a friend. All working as normal. Will investigate further when back home.
  2. I am away for the weekend, however will send someone to the house to check on the error code shown on the inverter. Installation is 3 years+ old. New error, never recorded before. System has not shut down. System ran on import from Eskom from 20:00 last night (when battery soc dropped from 100% to 0% instantaneously) and currently from PV with no import. No charge going to battery from PV as the soc remains 0%. Battery in USE. Will get the voltage settings from the inverter. Will update once I get feedback. Thanks
  3. Please assist with explanation of error code. Tried google but could not find error code. Thank you
  4. Any advise or assistance will be appreciated. Kodak 7.2 connected via RS232 to S port of Hubble Cloudlink. Cloudlink connected to 2 x Hubble AM2's via CAN. Because of this connection, I am not utilising the Hubble BMS. If I connect the S port from the Cloudlink to the Hubble, I activate the BMS. Is there a converter / switch / cable that can convert the Kodak RS485 or RS232 port to communicate with the Cloudlink CAN or Modbus port? This will allow continued remote functionality to the Kodak but with BMS activated. Thank you.
  5. Any Must Inverter owners that can advise if a Must pvm 1800 inverter has a BMS port? There is a RS485 comm port but I think it is dual inverters as this port is not communicating with Hubble Cloudlink. Thx.
  6. Cloudlink conneced and online. Battery shows as not connected. Tried various method to connect cables and sockets. Please advise on correct sockets on inverter and battery to use as well as correct cable to use. Thanks
  7. Please elaborate on using battery during non sun periods being very expensive. I have seen this comment before and is some places e.g R4.20 per kw for a battery. This I assume is the cost of the battery vs the cycle count? If this is correct, when does the battery register a cycle, e.g. 30% soc? Does one then set back to grid higher and then prevent a cycle, therefore not creating costs during non sun periods? Additional explanation will be appreceated. Thx.
  8. Is there a formula to determine the correct battery disconnect / fuse size for battery to inverter wires? Hubble AM2 to 5.5kw inverter. Thx. Ps. I have seen battery disconnects with 3 poles (would the 3rd pole be for 3 phase systems or is there another reason?). I have only 1 battery, so a 2 pole should be good? Thanks
  9. Hi. Need advise on new 48v lithium battery please. (Current battery is 48v, however brand unknown. Was installed with purchase of house. Battery drops voltage to 46.2v immediately when Eskom shut's down.) The numerous options, specifications, brands etc. is confusing to the layman. 1. Considering Blue Nova BN52V-100-5.2k DU or Hubble AM-2. Consideration due to after-sales support being local and the battery being 1c. Is the price premium over e.g. Pylontech or Shoto that are 0.5c (as I understand) worth it in a domestic household environment.?. 2. Number of cycles on battery - What constitutes a cycle? Various conflicting info received, e.g. if voltage drops below 50%, or below 30% etc. If I use the battery to provide / supplement electricity usage in the household during the day when PV is available and battery voltage continuously fluctuates due to consumption or during load-shedding, at what stage that this equal a cycle? (If e.g 50% constitutes a cycle, why not use the full available capacity of the battery before recharging?) I know there is numerous great options and brands out there. My budget is limited, however I know this is a long term investment and would not want to be penny wise and pound foolish for a 10 year + investment. Current system being used for load shedding convenience and monthly reduction in electricity bill (important to maximise available saving). 5.5kw inverter with 12 x 295w panels Thanks
  10. Defnitly on Sol but operating like it is in UTI. Going to wait for dark and then do complete reset. Hoping it will be back to normal tomorrow
  11. Poor wording - Power supply to the household - The PV is only charging the battery and all the electricity is coming from Evkom. Prior to changing voltage point, I was offgrid in the day. Currently 100% on Evkom as the PV is only charging the battery.
  12. Please can you assist with clarification of the Growatt settings. I attach. I believe this is a setting problem as it started once I changed settings on the inverter. PV is only trickle charging the battery and not providing power to the grid. It was working 100%; I reduced the charge constant voltage point (52.5v) and float voltage point (51.8v) and the problem started with no PV to the grid. All settings have been restored to default and the inverter reset, however still no PV (only trickle charge) and all power from grid. It is like it is operating in UTI. Inverter Settings.pdf
  13. Original poat edited in order to rephrase my question. I am assisting a friend with his pv system. From time to time, the household miscalculates the power consumption resulting in a inverter overload. What is the most effective solution to protect the inverter from overloading? I have installed a Sonoff POW R3 on my system between the breaker and the inverter and it is working as intended. I.e. when the load exceeds 5000w, the Sonoff trips and the inverter auto goes into off grid mode with a alarm notification on my phone that I need to pay attention to the reason for the Sonoff tripping. Geyser is connected to the inverter (converted to PTC element and connected with relay and Sonoff TH16). What I do like about using the Sonoff POW R3 as the trip is that scenarios can be set that if POW R3 is off (trip or loadshedding) the TH16 cannot come on. Is there better alternatives than using a Sonoff POW R3 i.e. relays or breakers etc. See setting from Growatt server attached. Am I correct that this setting only applies when when drawing from the battery? I.e. when battery overload occurs, switch back to mains? Please clarify. Since I am posting, please can I raise a few other questions I have: 1.) Best setting for charge and float voltage (Hoselect 4.8kw - Not connected BMS (Installer said Growatt and Hoselect cannot communicate) - Set on USE) Current charge - 56.4v & Float 54.0v - I have seen a post that suggests charge 52.5v & Float 51.8v Battery to Mains working point 51.2v Mains to battery working point 0V 2.) Anyway to connect BMS with Growatt and Hoselect? Is there after market modules that can integrate the Hoselect (does have BMS) and the Growatt? Is the benefit of SOC worth exploring a possible solution and associated expense? 3.) Should I consider reducing the battery to mains to e.g 50v to negate grid import at times? 3.) Charge source is set to PV only. Inverter set to SOL - Once sun sets and PV input is zero, the inverter charges the battery from the mains. Is there another setting that I need to check to only charge from PV and not from mains? Thanks in advance
  14. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Unable to connect the datalogger to the server. Any advise (step by step if needed) will be appreciated. Used both Iphone and Android phones to try and establish connection. I have managed to one occasion get the datalogger connected. The connection was active for maximum 45 minutes then lost and since then reestablishing a server connection remains unsuccessful. I have deleted the logger from the app and started again, connected the logger and edited the configuration etc. The logger connects to the router (basic 2.4ghz router), however the status remains lost. Have tried numerous different youtube instruction videos, troubleshooting guides etc. What is it that I am missing to get this connection active? Have connected via the Shinephone app (red light after reset, scan logger, connect wifi) with success on one occasion. Have not managed to successfully connect via the hotspot (i.p) method on a single occasion and unable to recreate the connection via the app (red light start). I registered the plant as South Africa and was required to enter a installer code. I did not have one but found a code that worked on the web. Any advise or assistance will be appreciated. The next step will be to connect pv keeper. If you have experience in creating this connection (can this be done via wifi) or alternative suggestions to pv keeper as a effective free monitoring app please will you share info. Thanking you in advance Carel
  15. Apologies if asked prior, but could not find the answer on google or on the forum. What is the difference between the Growatt TL and ES models? Does the Growatt wifi app allow you to make changes to the inverter, e.g. sbu to sub or is it only a monitoring app? Thanks
  16. I have installed a power consumption meter between the DB and the inverted to measure the Evkom consumption to the inverter. (5kw inverter). Albeit small, I have a consistent supply from the grid to the inverter even if the solar power generation is in excess of the load. E.g. Solar generation would be 1800w and the load 800w with power from the grid varying between 20w and 100w dependant on the charge state of the battery. I have noted that the fuller the battery, the lower the grid consumption, however never zero although having lots of excess solar power. Please can you assist with an explanation as to why there is always a small Evkom power usage? Is this normal? Thanks
  17. Warlok - Did you use a contactor or did you connect the Sonoff directly to geaser? Is 16amp enough for the startup surge of the element? Have seen some posts of the Sonoff "burning".
  18. Thanks for the information. Your setup is amazing. Some serious research to be done by myself.
  19. Warlok - Thank you for posting the shopping list. I will follow your recommendation to the T. Still a newb in the solar world. Please may I ask about your systems app. Is this a purchased app that communicates with your inverter or is this your inverters app? Does this app auto upload your stats to pvoutput.org? Thanks
  20. I would like to add the geyser in the flat section of my house to my current solar system (150l geyser - currently on dedicated Eskom circuit). Geyser is only used once a day for a morning or evening shower. (The rest of the house is on gas geysers). I have a 5kw hybrid inverter with 12 panels generating a maximum of 2.5kwh at peak time during the day. At times, I use the full available pv output at times during the day, e.g. pool pump on, however with effective setting of timers, I have excess power available during the day. I am thinking of changing the element in the geyser to 1500w (can I go as small as 1000w?). If I allocate 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon via a DB timer to the geyser, is their any reason why I cannot "go off grid" for the geyser via the solar pv? Is a 1500w element big enough to reheat the geyser in 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon? Granted, if I do not have a sunny day, I will still be "on grid" when the geyser timer comes on, however my assumption would be that I can save a fair share of my Eskom spend. Is their any reason why this cannot be done? Any pitfalls to look out for? Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks
