  1. @The Terrible Triplett Capetown has approved the following as legal grid tie. I am almost sure that the newer models might be added to this list. For all the Voltronic guys. Sorry I could not find one Victron, Who manufactures them,, maybe its under different name..
  2. Ai TTT. You are going to lose this one. If Blue needs a device (Not from Blue) to make it safe to grid tie. And my machine needs that same device to safely grid tie, I would still save all the money I am saving now by not buying Blue
  3. What is needed can only be determined when everything is declared legal or not. I never bought my inverter to feed back to the grid and at this stage I don't plan to do so, I bought it for its function to mix my 3 supplies to my load without switching between them. My local council cant even give me any regulations, they will find out, and that can take a year or 2. Should I wait? If it becomes legal one day, I can recover some of my costs, if it doesn't, I can still use my inverter exactly the way I planned to use it. If I have to buy a Reverse current relay, so be it. But I will buy a normal one, If its Blue, I think it would be to expensive
  4. Yes!! Mine can only feed back to the grid when it can see the grid, If the supply is off, its got nothing to feed back to. Neat little safety factor, don't you think?
  5. @The Terrible Triplett. The older meters trip, why? They were discontinued even before grid tie inverters was developed, so it was not to stop grid tie, it was to stop a clever electrician from swaping the feed and load wires in an attempt to stop the meter from using the units. As for the other meters, those safety's were also installed when they realised some people turn the wires around to make the meter run in reverse. So it was build in to stop guys from stealing power.   7. @jcn , Looking at one of your pics, you've got the Infinisolar V, Ive got the same one and are having the same problem. I did sent a mail to Voltronics last night and hope to have an answer soon, If you do find the solution before me, please post? If they give me an answer I will let you know..
  8. I must admit, TTT had me seriously consider going Blue in a Green world. I will agree that Victron has got a better track record and had time to prove its reliability, but they are real pricey. If I want to do with Victron what I want to do with Infini, it will cost me 3 times the price and then Victron can not manage the power the same way Infini can. Reliability VS Functionality. I understand that some guys on the forum feels that it is a risk buying Axpert/Infini, but at least, for me, it will now be an calculated risk I have learned a lot in a week and a halve from all of you and changed my future solar plans about 20 times. All of you made me rethink different options over and over. Thanks for everyone who took the time to answer my questions. @The Terrible TriplettThanks for all the time spend in supplying me with answers in the back ground, I like your passion for Blue.
  9. @plonkster. Under 1kw. Anything above causes the problem. The new prepaid meters is interesting and will allow reverse current, but if you do it continously, it will presume that you have turned the supply and load wires around in an attempt to steal power and it will start charging you for it. They call it Significant reverse current detection. What I've seen on the net tonight is that all the new meters at this stage comes factory programed with that protection.   11. Just an update on this problem. The Infinisolar V, for now, might interfere with some prepaid Meters in a grid-tie scenario. At first I thought my problem was caused by the Unit trying to feed back to the grid even though the setting to do so was disabled. With a lot of testing I realized that it only happens when a big load like an Iron or Microwave ext Switches off or cycles. It seems like the Meter then sense some kind of Back EMF, and this causes the meter to Switch off, showing a "Unsafe R" fault code. In my case its a Ecolec 570. Not good news if you've got one of these. Spend a big part of today on the phone with CBI who use to manufacture these units. Its been discontinued 8 years ago and has a build in Reverse current Protection. Spoke to 4 guys from 4 different CBI branches and all 4 had the same answer. There is nothing they can do, no codes no remedies. That protection can not be bypassed as is wasn't part of the design to ever allow reverse current. (I am going to try some noise filters and hope to solve the issue - Will update soon) Alternative options in Limpopo. Replace with PLC Prepaid Meter at your own cost for R2200. Asked them to put me back on a conventional meter and they refused. Too many people not paying their account. I read about problems with a CONLOG meters. For more on that, please look at the discussion below.

  15. @plonkster Sorry sir, I am looking at this data sheet http://www.trojanbattery.com/pdf/datasheets/T105RE_TrojanRE_Data_Sheets.pdf The T105 RE datasheet shows a 0.02V lower requirement than the T105's requirement for bulk charge and the float charge is the same at 54V. Even with RE's my unit can still not reach that value.
  16. Thanks guys , I found the answer on another site and know now how to interpret the info from the manufacturers SOC value chart to calculate the DOD value for my banks.
  17. Any help with the DOD? Please? I just figured out how to look at the info from the last week and according to SolarPower I never went below 84% on the banks. What is the best way to calculate the value for the correct DOD?
  18. @flltech I meant with SolarPower, but I did some playing around after my last post and got it right. Now at least I can see what the system did yesterday ext.
  19. @flltech I gave it about 3600 watts for a test. the most that went through for a short period was the second day I was testing, I was doing around 2000watts when the Garden Services pluged in and started their Lawnmower, It took it just over 4000watts but gave 1 alarm for overload and that was it. Only other real frustration is the fact that I can not access My Power Manager with the Inverter connected. And my software does not record detail. cant go back and track stuff.
  20. The 5k unit can take 2 PV arrays, 6000Watt if I am not mistaken. Also an attractive future.
  21. @viper_za Full circle Solar is supplying the units to Takealot and they are selling for the exact same price. If you find it cheaper, please let me know, I am planning to buy my second one. I believe in redundancy and sharing loads. Rather have 2 units running at 50% capacity than having 1 running at 100%
