  1. I just want to thank @Jaco de Jongh for looking into it for me, it really just shows how great this forum is. Will keep you posted if it happens again. What he changed was the sustain voltage, it was over 50v, back to 48. Additionally changed the grid code to NRS (ps. I see that the Multiplus II 48/5000 is also now NRS certified asof August, coming to an approved inverter list soon I guess, attached is the certificate), additionally he cleaned up all my unused sensors. I will check the MPPT for loose connections tonight, hopefully this is now sorted. Certificate-NRS-097-2-1-MultiPlus-II-48-3000-35-32,-48-5000-70-50-and-MultiPlus-II-48-3000-35-32-GX.pdf
  2. Hi, Jaco will have a look it seems, but from my memory I have not set any limit, it was running the oven and geyser on Sunday without hiccups. Noticed this behaviour yesterday for the first time. I normally check when the Geyser runs and that everything is fine at home and picked this up.
  3. The other thing that I have noticed is that the SVS/STS settings are not aligned to what is recommended, not sure if this was always set like this since the install. Anywhere to perhaps check change logs on my device to see if anybody perhaps tweaked it? I know my installer does show clients my system, but not sure if they might of turned it on?
  4. Hi, My system has been acting strange since yesterday, ESS is using much more than my grid setpoint, while my battery is 100% charged and throttling my East String. No errors or anything, I have also restarted the Venus with no luck. Any ideas? The only difference with this MPPT is that it is connected via USB to the Venus. Was fine up untill 11:19, then just dropped again. Yesterday similar behaviour at around 12.
  5. I also think so and from other articles they have published, they are normally very half baked. Net so

  7. Looks tidy enough my issue is a very busy cupboard and the initial trunking was cut/changed which does not align nicely anymore. Regarding regulations, I have heard that covering with masonite is not allowed due to fire risk.
  8. I also have a POW R2 and I agree that connectors are a bit rubbish. I flashedTasmota on it, was pretty simple and easy to do.
  9. Hi All, Anybody care to share some ideas or photos of installations that have been done in such a way? Due to my install having a lot of trunking going into different directions, it does look a bit busy and untidy. I was thinking of covering it up with a sheet of something (Maizey's have some options, Polycarbonate perhaps) and drilling holes for ventilation if I do leave everything still mounted directly to the wall. Thinking of providing some mechanism to easily remove it to get back to the trunking/wiring if needed. Not sure if there are any regulations around what can be used for such a purpose?
  10. If you do a search on the forum @plonksterand TTT have discussed scheduled charging options that can be used to not drain batteries at certain times, I have personally not used it, but it can perhaps help to a degree. The idea of ESS as Optimized with BatteryLife and the ET112 is to zero loads, it is exactly what it is doing now and it will see the loads not directly connected to the EasySolar as you have described. I am not sure if you can perhaps turn off the Energy Meter option in ESS and still be able to get the nice reports by some other means.
  11. I assume this has been installed on the Non-Essential DB, thus ESS is trying to zero the usage of said loads that it knows about from the ET112.
  12. My installer also rates FreedomWon highly, but just checking the size of those batteries and the price tag it comes with, I just went Pylon and got it over with. I could match what I needed with the pylons and still have some change left with the same capability. Also the 70% DOD was a bit strange but when the grid fails it is ok to go past that?
  13. From what I recall, Pylon is now approved for Off-Grid use with Victron, but as stated one should match the bank with the inverter correctly.
  14. Ok seems it was one of the MPPT terminals that wasn't very tight. Error has not yet returned and cables on roof was also checked to make sure it they are also fine.
  15. Seems they are doing some maintenance tomorrow, got this notification on Friday: Planned shutdown of the Highlands substation Residents in the eastern parts of Tshwane are informed about an emergency shutdown of the Highlands substation on Tuesday, 17 September 2019. The shutdown is necessitated by the need to carry out essential maintenance and repair work on the electricity network and components at the substation. The interruption period will be for 11 hours from 07:00 until 18:00.
  16. I see Hager gives some dimensions, perhaps compare with your current cavity to get an idea.
  17. Agg I am a nice guy.. The 10 years is the thing for me, I don't want to get in the situation where by year 6 I have reached a point where the warranty still says it is acceptable to have X amount of fade and I can't get through the night. If I can keep the capacity close to what I need for my night time loads for 10 years I should be in the green or close to it. I will like to see when the number of cycles of the lithium test center have gotten close to 10 years to get into the calculations. I have oversized a bit, but a growing family will need more oomph one day:
  18. It happened yesterday at 10 again, so not really heat of the day. On Saturday it was just after 12. He wasn't home for either of them, so can't say how hot it got. I will ask him about the cable size and check if everything is fastened. He is not even hitting 100A, closer to 80/85, so don't think it is really working that hard
  19. I know.. but I also want to get past the 10 years with some good capacity left I am more worried about only having 2 batteries, with 74A discharge and trying to pull them on the limit when the PV has faded. Just trying to nurse them.. DOD a bit less, capacity in the long run a bit more. I have set them to 40% min SOC, but I have only passed that twice with the heater running one or two nights in the babies room I easily get through the night, with all loads on the battery, so it was more of a precaution if the next day is cloudy and we perhaps have a power failure with my min SOC setting:
  20. Hi All, Seems my friend has been getting this error frequently since this weekend. "Err 26 - Terminal overheated Power terminals overheated, check wiring, including the wiring type and type of strands, and/or fasten bolts if possible." Obviously nothing seems obviously wrong or has been fiddled with since the install, about 2 months ago. He only has a single MPPT, so no DC combiner box, would adding one perhaps help with the issue?
  21. I ended up on 49% the next morning, so not too bad. I can get away with it, not sure if it is good for the batteries, so maybe looking at that window to keep them charged is a good idea
  22. So tried the oven on Monday, starting just before 4pm, base load was around 400-500w, then the oven started spiking, seems like 1250 and then 2500 very quickly up and down, it started chilling after 30 minutes. Will perhaps only use it over weekends when we make some crispy bacon and so forth and avoid the late afternoons :
  23. 2nd Life LFP's market will grow in the mean time with "warranties" of some sort. Then the ROI might also look a bit different. I am also a bargain hunter, not much will beat what you have sourced now.
  24. I would rather pay extra and have a good job done. I think after this whole experience I would reconsider a few things.
  25. I had a lucky break when we took the system live again.
