Less than 300W inverter/battery setup
Durran replied to Durran's topic in Product Opinions & Reviews
Yea that will most probably be the budget, any suggestions on that entry level? -
Hi All, My domestic worker is looking for the cheapest solution available to run some LED lights, TV and radio maybe. have looked on Takealot and don't trust some of those products. Can someone recommend a reliable solution/brand for the inverter (less than 300W), panel and battery to run for a few hours?

Remote Raspberry pi monitoring of Geyser temp - ideas?
Durran replied to mikeblackburn's topic in The Internet of Things
Thanks, I have seen a few people saying they have done this but thought it was just me been doff. Clearly isn't a clear cut way to do it and taking thermostat out is dodgy. I think most practical option is as ScOObs suggested, just need to now see what would be the most effective way to insulate it on the hotwater pipe. If there is a variance of 10%, doest that really matter think not -

Thanks ScOObs, agreed. So I am still confused as to where one then puts the SONOFF temp sensor? -

That sounds interesting. How do you then get the temp sensor into HA? -
Remote Raspberry pi monitoring of Geyser temp - ideas?

Hi guys, Do you insert the temp sensor into the where the thermostat should go? I read someone that one of the guys straps it to the hotwater output and insulates it, therefore leaving the thermostat in tact, sacrifice is that the temp is not as accurate? Whats the best setup to control geyser with HA? -
Thats great to hear!! DO they have a timeframe for this possible release? MQTT in HA is the way to go, especially with the new Energy feature in HA

Best geyser setup for already finished solar PV system

Good solution, much cheaper than a heatpump!! -
Yup I had the same problem and went back and forth with ICC (Johan the designer) and was never sorted out. They have been working on new software and release was imminent about three months ago, still waiting for it unfortunately. Just one of those things you forced to live with for now but very frustrating.

Would it help if you had the inverter installed in a rack with fans to draw out additional warm air? is this practical?

Hi All, So we had loadshedding from 3-7 yesterday afternoon. By 7PM my pylontech was on 20% battery and I feared that it would run flat to 10% and automatically switch off as its has done a few times if we have had loadshedding and cloudy days. I therefore switches as much off in the house as I could so try preserver it to the morning when PV would start charging. To my surprise, it was at 100% capacity this morning. Surely Eskom didnt charge the battery when loadshedding finished? I have a Axpert 5KVA-48DC running the ICC software, I didnt know this was possible? Any insights?
-
Hi @Parky This is great, however I am using ICC - I assume the two can run in parallel and wont affect either?
-
Hi All, Just putting feelers out, what is the 2nd hand market like for a Mecer 5kW-48V Hybrid Inverter (PF1), one year old and the ICC Pi and cable? Where would it be best to sell this and what price could I expect? I am looking at changing my inverter to a Goodwe

"Smart" Thermostat - Is there something like this?
Durran replied to Gustav du Plessis's topic in Water Heating & Pumping
Love this topic - asked a few times about ITS heat pumps and no-one really knows or wants to venture down this route as yet. Waiting for ITS to come back to me with some questions and will try a few ideas too -
Everything you wanted to know about Heat Pumps
Durran replied to Richard Mackay's topic in Water Heating & Pumping
Nice post Bobster. Fully agree with the statement above, this is my only frustration at the moment. I have had a ITS (as previously mentioned) for the last 7 years and services it last year. Still going well and ROI was roughly 4 years ago already. Anyone know, or have any thoughts on, how to change the control panel to make it "smart" IE: get it into HASS.IO with a sonoff device or DI mini or something similar to such?
