Comms error between VMIII and US3000s
What a painful exercise. Hopefully they can sort it out for you.

Hennie yes the cable was included with the inverter when I bought it.

Comms error between VMIII and US3000s
Sorry about your hassles Hennie. The user-defined is a temporary fix, but it does a terrible job of reading battery SOC, or did in my case at least. Hopefully you can find a dealer with the correct cable in stock.

Effective PV output
Sam your peak output is also highly dependent on the time of year vs. your array tilt. Around this time of year my panels produce >95% of their rated power (after cabling/inverter losses) at solar noon (around 12:20), since my roof is tilted at 5 degrees North, which happens to be the optimal tilt this time of year. As the year rolls on I'll peak less and less. As alluded to above you should be more concerned with KWh produced daily since spot output varies during the day. There are cool apps out there to play around with like PV Solar Forecast and SunCalc.org.

Pylontech US3000B 3.5kWh Li-Ion Battery
I bought a couple of US3000s from solar-shop.co.za a couple of weeks ago. These guys are fantastic, highly recommended. As for the batteries, they are phenomenal. Turned out 2 x US3000s can carry us through the night comfortably (still around 50% left in the morning when solar kicks in). I have just purchased a 3rd unit, to cover us in winter and during poor weather, but also to reduce DoD for battery life - want to look after my little money-generating technological marvels 😆

Comms error between VMIII and US3000s
I found a solution to the problem courtesy of the supplier (solar-shop.co.za) so I thought it might be helpful to others with the same issue. 1. You have to use the cable supplied with the inverter. 2. Dip switches are 1000 on all batteries (assuming single group). 3. Cable is plugged into master battery RS485 port, not CAN. Works beautifully.

Comms error between VMIII and US3000s
Good day everyone. I have a newly commissioned system with Kodak VMIII and 2xUS3000 batteries. With the inverter setting 05 set to Pylontech I get error code 61, which according to the manual means no communication between the battery and inverter. For now I am using the user-defined option under setting 5, which works fine, but I presume I will need to get the communication thing sorted for optimum performance. My settings are as follows: - Dip switches both batteries 0000. Tried 1000 as well with no joy. - Have tried CAN and RS485 port on master battery - Batteries connected via Link Port 0 on slave and Link Port 1 on master - Master is the one with positive running to inverter and slave runs negative to inverter Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
