  2. Yes, in fact I did. But I still need to buy a combiner box, solar cable and connectors. Do you know any suppliers that do supply on a short term credit basis?.
  3. I need to buy another Pylontech US3000 urgently to complete my installation - and have run out of cash, - still have about a third of the total in cash for a deposit. Are there any suppliers that might sell me one on credit (over a 2 month period)?
  4. Wow! This is so much knowledge one gets from the experience of other members. This Litium technology is definitely a complete new discovery for me. I get so jealous of younger guys, the future of technology development will be all part of their lives and not mine. But I made it to Lithium technology and just curiously waiting for G5, and if the technology gurus hurry up I might experience a few more exiting developments. Designing and installing my own system, rewiring my main DB board to support my house via the inverters or grid but also separating the grid support part to feeds the geyser, (when there is no sun for the solar heaters) my workshop and the gate motors (with their own battery support) - and all your support with knowledge, enable me to keep the dementia away.
  5. Thanks I'll change that. Another urgent question how do I reboot/restart ICC after I made changes or do I just reboot the Raspberry with that reboot button below the ICC window on the Raspberry? Is this the correct way? In the terminal window - restart the system by typing: sudo restart now
  6. My definition of the cut off voltage is a voltage that is not near the "shut down completely" stage. I'm talking about my experience with lead acid deep cycles for the last 5 - 6 years where I never dropped them below a total voltage of 47 - 48v. What is the cut off voltage you are referring to on the Pylon. And what is the voltage more or less at 20% and 40%. This is what I don't understand, my pylon was never close to 46v and a cycle was registered?
  7. According to what I understand about cycles of deep cycle batteries is that a cycle is when a battery is drained to it's cut off voltage and then recharged to full capacity again. I experienced something different and therefore my question: Is my ICC calculating my Pylontech's cycles as episodes of use? After my Pylontech was applied the first time to carry us through the first load shedding happening (after installation of my system) I noticed 1 cycle on the dashboard of ICC the moment after the Pylontech was fully charged again. I was so exited about showing Escom a specific finger and was consistently in front of my installation and on my phone monitoring the performance of the brand new Pylontech US3000 on ICC. At the end of load shedding it wasn't close to 46volts and not below 50% SOC as displayed by ICC - BUT 1 cycle was recorded. I hoped to see somewhere a log of data to indicate to me that I missed the possibility that the Pylontech was in fact drained to the cut off voltage at least, but apparently there isn't such log available. Sorry, if I'm wrong - but this is disappointing of the ICC monitoring application and let me to believe that ICC is calculating a cycle as a period/episode of usage of the Pylon battery. Last night another load shedding experience and again the battery wasn't drained, BUT ICC displayed, even while the battery was still charging, another cycle recorded (see attached image). So is ICC calculate a cycle as a period/episode when the battery was used (not drained) and recharged? I lost 2 of the 6000 cycles of the Pylontech only because I made use of it twice - or do I have the understanding of a cycle completely wrong?
  8. Sorry I was wrong, there is a 30A setting and I changed it to 30A. I also set the bulk on 53.1 and the float on 53.0, is that OK
  9. Thanks Coulomb, I don't think there is a setting for 30amp on the Axperts. So is it then OK if I set it on 40amps as was suggested by Raspberry suppliers? I noticed last night it was taking really some time to bring it back on full charge on the 20amp setting.
  10. My supplier of the Axperts and the Pylontech also advice me not to charge higher than 20amp. He set it remotely via the Raspbery at 20amp. However when I discussed the ICC "instruction manual" with the suppliers of the Rasberry yesterday, they changed it to 40amp and said the Pylontech performs better if charged at 40amps. But I changed it back again to 20amps later.
  11. Only one US3000, but I made provision to accommodate another US3000. But I first want to install my panels now. So the extra Pylon will have to wait for money to come in.
  12. Thanks but I found the ICC manual and was able to change the settings. I discovered if you set bulk charge before float charge you get an error. Interesting that float should be set first.
  13. Thanks so much you guys for the info, experience and knowledge you sharing. Yes, my Pylon is brand new - I installed it about 3 weeks ago - and ICC showed 1 cycle? The supplier of the Pylon set up my Axperts via the internet and the Raspberry Pi. He does have a lot of experience. However I'm worrying now about the bulk and float charge levels. I don't have experience of the Raspberry Pi and ICC - I'm used to do things myself and therefore need to get the knowledge how to set up and made chances, as needed, to the Axperts, via the Raspberry Pi. I need to change the bulk and float levels according to your advice tomorrow morning. My son (an electro-physics engineer in Canada) also advised me, when I ordered the Pylon, that I should never charge it higher than 80% and not draining it below 40% - I was worried from the beginning about the setting of 53.1, it looked to me if that is more than 80%. I will contact the supplier of the Raspberry and get the instructions how to manage the inverters via ICC. I was wondering if there is not perhaps instructions for ICC on the forum somewhere? I do include 5 images. The 1st one is a screenshot when we run out of pre-paid electricity on 5 July (battery volts 49.35 and SOC 97%) The 2nd one is a screenshot when we had our 1st load shedding episode on Thursday (9 July) (battery volts 48.95 and SOC 69%) Then the 3rd shot taken, the next load shedding episode also Thursday but at 21:23 (battery voltage 50.52 but SOC now 54% - why lower SOC but batt voltage is higher than the previous time?) No cycles yet? The 4th, this morning 04:10 (Bad storm in the Cape and I'm up from 03:00). No load shedding. But displaying 1 cycle. My understanding is that 1 cycle is if you drained the battery to cut-off voltage and charge it to full capacity again - the battery wasn't drained during any of the previous episodes at all. The 5th one. Taken just now. Shows the battery graph with a strange dip below the 0 mark - I noticed the grid displays a similar graph pattern. What does that mean?   14. Thanks Coulomb, I thought applying the Raspberry Pi does take care of these shortfalls of the Axperts when connecting them to Lithiums. Will it damage my Pylontech if I only do it in 5 months time (upgrading the firmware). I will only install my panels then. At the moment I'm just using the system as a UPS system for when we have load shedding episodes. I checked on the Raspberry ICC program and with the past two episodes the Pylontech never dropped below 48v. But 48v is about 5v below the float voltage on the Pylontech (53.1v) and it shows me I think 61% SOC. I'm still learning and therefore don't understand "A 4.0 V drop in a lithium battery could mean it's dead flat" but mine only showed 61% on the ICC. Please help I'm now a bit confused?
  15. Sorry, I checked myself and to what I can gather the Dyness is defilingly also Lithium Iron (LiFePO4).

I mounted mine, on a custom made bracket/console, with buttons up and covered the CAN, the R485 and the Link 0,1 ports just with a piece of black isolation tape temporally (to prevent dust getting in) until I made the top cover - I still have to cover the sides as well (see photo). I design and built the bracket/console to accommodate 2 x 3.5kWh Pylontechs and made provision for airflow (even with the cover on the top).
  18. Thanks wolfandy, I will definitely consider this. Does LFP has a specific function which contribute to the advantage of the Lithiums or the Axperts? What is it actually?
  19. Thanks for the assurance and links. However at the moment my finances are limited. I must now concentrate on the installation of my panels. When I'm finished with that I might consider to upgrade. But I first want to ask, if there are any "benefits" in upgrading the firmware? I know about the better control over fan speed. If I bricking my inverters and have to replace a daughter board (as Coulomb describes) at this stage, my motivation and confidence will drop and might just stop me from carrying on (Lol!).
  20. I think I will just stay with the firmware as they are. I understand that if something went wrong with the updating, the inverter is messed up and will have to be replaced completely.
  21. This is very interesting, both inverters have the same firmware namely U1 52.30 although I bought them 6 years apart. See the images below. Can this be the reason for the successful pairing?
  22. I'm a bit confused, where do I see these firmware numbers (72.70c etc.) I checked on the labels but don't see anything on them. I include the labels of the 2 inverters below.
  23. That is 2.4kW total. I've actually inspired myself to get serious about the viewing of the fans of the older inverter and eventually established that they do turn (although not continuously). This enabled me to sleep well the last 3 days, worries are over. I usually worried my "projects" into being successful before I stumbled onto the stage to receive the completed product(s) Lol! OK seriously where do I see or can I get the firmware version. Is there a history of unsuccessful pairings of Axpert inverters?
  24. I have a question regarding the inside fans of 2 Axperts in parallel. The one is an older model (in use for about 5 years). The older one's fans is not running (continuously) - I said continuously because this morning I thought I saw them running for a short period, but I'm not sure. I noticed about two days ago that they are not running/turning. I do have a 150 x 150 mm fan (like a radiator fan of a quad bike) on the side of this older Axpert which blows over my Raspberry Pi first and then onto or rather into the holes of the older Axpert. This fan is thermostatically controlled (I set it on 18 degr C). The new Axpert's (which is mounted on the right hand side of the older one and therefore not that much exposed to the big fan) fans are running continuously. My question is; are the inside fans thermostatically controlled and therefore not switching on because I kept the temperature of the inverter low with the outside big fan OR is there a problem (because the fans of the other inverter is running continuously) I just want to mention, I did put a load of 2.4w on them to see if it is because there was no load on them - but no difference (the fans on the older inverter didn't start). Also, without any load the older inverter shows a reading never above 80w while the newer inverter always above 105w. As I'm new to the application of 2 Axperts in parallel, in partnership with Lithium Iron (Pylontech) technology, I really need help and advice. Thank you very much.
