Yep I paralleled them didn't mess with the old firmware those batteries still work like a charm with 100% SOH the new ones not so sure going to do some capacity testes etc when time allows..

As a matter of interest, did you parallel the  new ones with the old ones without a Firmware change on the old one?  Would really like to know if that can be done.

I have the 110 Ah AM-2 batteries too but also some of the newer AM-2 Batteries but their performance are not as good as the old ones they are also much lighter 42 KG for the old ones and 34 KG for the new ones.

Hi Guys so here is another GIVE AWAY!
We are busy with a test and review of the Greenrich 1.5C 3.686 kWh Lithium Battery
Yes we will be giving one away to one lucky Power Forum Member in a Lucky Draw
I will post details on how to qualify for this GIVE AWAY soon watch this space!

So some information to wet your appetite about these batteries
Greenrich batteries have been in the market for some time now and so far we have had mostly positive feedback from installer and end users alike.
What makes the battery desirable is the 1.5C Rating this means the battery can discharge at 1.5 times its capacity rating.
Why would that be so great?
Here is why if you have a 5KW inverter discharge the battery at 5kWh then this 3.686 kWh battery will be able to absorb a charge rate between 0.5C & 0.75C and a discharge rate at 1.5C without tripping the benefits of that is that when you start of on your solar journey you don't have to break the bank with just one 3.686kWh Greenrich Battery because your 5KW inverter can never reach the discharge rates of the battery.
The 3.686 kWh is also inter compatible with the 4.95 kWh Greenrich Lithium if you require to expand to larger capacity.
This Lithium battery is the only Lithium battery in the market that offers true 1.5C discharge ratings. With 1.5C discharge rates, the Greenrich lithium battery has a much higher power output compared to other 0.5C or 1C lithium batteries.
The cell technology in the battery is LFP cylindrical high density cells which can do up to 2C however for longevity the BMS limits the discharge  to 1.5C and charger rates to 0.5C continuous and boost charge rate for 5 minutes to 0.75C
    Battery specifications:
    Weight: 41.5kg
    Battery Type: Lithium Ion
    Nominal Energy: 3686 Wh
    Depth of discharge: 95.00 %
    Voltage: 51.2v
Continuous Discharge Rate (Normal Use): 5000 W
    Maximum Discharge Rate (5 Minutes): 5500 W
    Surge Discharge Rate (15 Seconds): 6144 W
    Maximum Charge Rate (5 Minutes): 2560 W
Compatible with many of South Africa’s popular Hybrid inverters’ brands.
Built-in BMS that protects the cell from abnormal temperature, current, voltage, SoC, and SoH.

We have the Alpha Ess Smile 5. With 11.4kw backup. This system been installed August 2020. We never had any mayor issue with the system. The minor issues we had
Failover switch and surge protector Eskom side burned during loadshedding.  Than during loadshedding we might use 1 to many appliances as we forgot that we on loadshedding  and the system trip.
Only issue what I do have. We are a household of 6. Sometimes we need slightly more power. Wish you can add another  Smile 5 inverter parallel to current to up the kw usage.
Said that. Our house is 360sqm under roof. The system does everything.  Only appliances not connected. Stove and 2 geysers. We dont have a pool pump nor borehole.
I so wish I can get the new system as a my frail aunt in need of a system as she needs power for her oxygen machine. 2 hours loadshedding is fine but when the power trip after loadshedding it can take hours to get power back in that suburbs.

It seems like higher voltage batteries are also going to be a trend, this one is 96V, so no more really thick and expensive cabling.

Strange that you Blame Hubble for trashing Pylontech.. I have read all the threads and there is not one post by Hubble saying anything about Pylontech... Leshen which is a member of the forum here compared the batteries interesting how you blame a Brand for opinions of individuals.. so much emotional responses with so few facts from a lot of people here that says a lot and don't actually know what they are talking about... besides the thread went completely off topic. Besides a battery manufacturer does not specify recommended cable sizes the Inverter Manual normally specifies and recommends the right battery cable size based on the potential current draw and charging current capabilities of the inverter or MPPT connected to the Battery... You can have 50KW of battery but if your inverter is rated at 1KW then the recommended cable size would be dictated by how much the inverter system can draw from the battery at any time..

I would Not Choose Pylontech too many horror stories on battery failure and warranty problems in the past couple of Months besides you require a lot of them in parallel to cover the warranty and a whole host of requirements that could possibly make your warranty void like no Coms No Earthing on the battery case etc
You have other options Like BSLB pretty stable good battery with not too many complications Claims 6000 Cycles @80 %  also claims to be 1C, Revov if you dont mind used EV batteries Freedom Won is also a option very pricey and only gives 4000 cycles @80% afaik Blue Nova however they have some issues with their BMS so Does Revov the other option is Hubble Lithium also a great option no negative things about the battery 1C @100% DOD Good after sales support (local) not fussy when it comes the warranty and then you have Solar MD not Crazy about it personally looks to home made and Shoto .5C Battery and so on and so forth but I personally have the Hubble Lithium AM2 batteries and I am very pleased with their performance.

The issue is, no matter what is said, people will believe whatever they want to. Almost like the flat earth soceity. So as @Vassen says, it’s a pointless discussion.

    That's interesting.
But generally speaking, NMC outperform LFP in colder temperatures (under 25 degrees C).

    Strawman.
Everyone knows that temperatures affect lithium-based batteries. You need to read what I stated very carefully. At the risk of repeating myself, a quick comparison of warranties (yes, in this thread) revealed that Pylontech warranties are very prescriptive and tightly defined in comparison to their peers.
But since you have broached the subject, if you do some research, you will note that NMC and LFP batteries actually do perform slightly differently, and it does involve temperature.

Hubble did testing on the NMC cells vs LFP cells and what they found is that the resistance in the LFP cells are 2ohms vs 0.4ohms on the NMC. Higher resistance means higher temps which maybe the reason why LFP batteries have stricter temperature requirements.

BYD cells are laser welded together. See attached picture.

PS, please don’t open your batteries for any reason as the warranty will be void.
