Hi. I received a notification from the city's contractors that that my current prepaid meter is to be replaced with a "split" prepaid meter, apparently due to the fact that I have a solar installation. Does anyone have an idea of what this is?

I was just sent a photo indicating it is an Ontec enlight SIENNA prepaid meter.  Does anyone have any experience with this, and if they are prone to tripping?

I have a SUNSYNK inverter and not feeding into grid.

Which council are you with?

If at the City of Cape Town, then you probably ticked the wrong box during your application.

No, they don't trip, but CoCT will charge you R10k for the replacement. (More if three phase, etc.)

This seems to contradict other feedback I got recently.

Seems a new meter is free when you are BLOCKING feedback. (single phase)

My application is going in today .... so would certainly hope I was given the correct information.

@CjF, yes, the feed in blocking meter is free in CoCT, soon after I got my approval to commission letter, I got notification that my old prepaid meter was going to be replaced with the Landis Gyr split prepaid meter and it was done two weeks later

THANK YOU :)

The current chain of events have not been kind to my budget .... finally some good news.

What was the time frame from your initial application to approval and then the new meter ?
