So after ALLOT of thinking and pondering the time has come to stop my laziness and do my own solar setup with the help of

a friend "Marius" an Electrical Engineer from VUT.

Marius will be doing 90% of the wiring and commissioning. Runs his own Solar business over weekends.

Main equipment list:

16x Canadian Solar 540w Hiku6 Mono PERC Panels. (8 Per string in Series)

1 String facing NE

1 String facing NNW

1x SunSynk 8kw Inverter

2x Hubble AM-2 5.5KWh + Cloudlink

Busy Designing the stainless (304) roof Brackets for the Renusol Rails as i have my own cnc plasma Cutter and 60 ton 2.5m press brake.

Let the Fun begin.....

If the price is good, maybe you can sell a few too.

Good choice of kit, hope it serves you well.

Welcome to the solar family, and don't forget we all like pictures. 😆

Hi, great choice of inverter. Check out the Aux output. I charge my geyser as soon as my batteries are 100%. If it is rainy you just switch on the grid to the auxiliary if your geyser isn't hot enough. This saves us a fortune in power and is very convenient.

Does this work for you, if you charge the battery to 100% more than once a day? Because @Tariq had issues with this feature, which SunSynk still hasn’t resolved.

What were your issues? Perhaps you need to ask them to download the latest version to your inverter. There is no problem on my side. If it charges to 100% a second time it will heat the geyser again unless the thermostat is at temperature. I have a infrared heated solar geyser so in the summer the thermostat is off as the temperatures go as high vas 80 C.

Well, for @Tariq it was switching on the AUX output only one a day. If the battery was discharged and charged again, the AUX output didn’t work anymore. Maybe he can comment as well on the above.

i even hooked the AUX output to the pool pump, so that I don't have the issue of the geyser temperature being high enough that the thermostat doesn't switch on and as I mentioned, if Aux switched off due to battery going below cut off soc or clouds moving over and when the conditions of soc and solar power were met, Aux would not come on automatically, i would have to jump start it by switching on a high power load like the kettle, then Aux would come on.

I met Keith in Cape Town and asked him this particular question, but since this feature is not used much by Sunsynk owners, he did not have an answer or seemed very interested, since then I have put the pool on a Cbi Astute and have no problems anymore.

I would check my software version. Perhaps a reset of the inverter would help. Contact Sunsynk (David Drake <[email protected]). I have found Sunsynk backup to be very good. I don't have the absolute latest software version but the auxiliary switches on whenever the battery is 100%.

Not too worried about it anymore, the ability to remotely switch the pool pump on/off with the Cbi Astute gives me more control anyway, plus the Sunsynk dongle gives me updates every 60 seconds, so don't really need the Aux function anymore.
