Axpert 5KVA Inverters Disconnecting from Grid and Reconncecting

I have 2 x Axpert 5KVA inverters connected in parallel. For some reason they disconnect from the grid and change over to battery power for a few seconds, then goes into bypass mode and then reconnects the batteries and resumes normal operation. Initially I picked this up during charging the batteries. I thought it changed over to battery power to check the battery charge status under load or something, but then I realized it happens a few times a day, even when the batteries are fully charged.

When the grid power fails, the change over to inverters and batteries as backup happens very fast. When the inverters disconnect from grid as explained above, it is a much slower process. My desktop computer UPS alarms to indicate that they have activated, the lights on the fridges blink while all this is happening. In some instances it disconnects and connects to the the grid 2-4 times before resuming normal operation. I am afraid my fridges and TV's will not last long with them being switched on and off 5-6 times a day in quick succession.

Any help would be appreciated.

Program 3 is probably set to UPS mode. This is the preferred mode but if your power supply is not good enough for this mode, try setting to Appliance mode. My diesel generator varies too much for UPS mode but the Axpert is very happy in Appliance mode. I notice a slight flicker when we go over from grid (generator) to battery but computers and TV continue normally. The 20 ms transfer time seems sufficient. In UPS mode the transfer time is 10ms.

Thank you very much for the advice Chris. It has been 3 days since I changed the setting to "Appliance". Since then the inverters have not disconnected from the grid once. I had to downgrade the status of Eskom from "Stable" to "Unstable". Eskom now has the same rating as a Generator in my books = Crap. It is probably because Eskom now generates grid power with "Maintenance" diesel generators running 24/7. Those generators were deigned to run for 3 hours at a time, while doing maintenance.

haha! Eskom has always been crap ;)

Hi,

I have a similar problem with my generator, ie it charges for a second or two and then the invertor stops charging.

Hiw do I check which mode the invertor is in and change from ups to appliance mode?

Assuming that you have an Axpert inverter, follow your manual's instructions to display and if necessary change setting 03 (AC input voltage range). Basically, long press on Enter to start, ESC to exit, up and down buttons to move between settings.

I have 2*5Kva Full Circle Solar King Axpert invertors. Other models have the same menu you describe, but not the model I have.

Ah, you did not say what model.

Huh, curious. They have similar logic, but no LCD command to change it.

It can still be changed with the PGR (Put Grid Range) command, however. For Appliance mode (the widest voltage range), this would be PGR00.

You may be able to set this with WatchPower or other monitoring software.
