Electrician Recommendations - Familiar with Goodwe - Jhb

Please can some esteemed members of the forum, suggest electricians in Johannesburg familiar with Goodwe ?

Unfortunately I have been chasing my own tail since November, with Phantom power draw and issues surrounding my PV - Just need someone who understands the Inverter and who can do some fault finding on my DB.

Its quite urgent

Have you tried Goodwe support? They get a bad rap in some quarters, but I've found them quite helpful, especially if you get hold of the local rep.

If you didn't do the install yourself, then does the installer not owe you some assistance?

I don't think your electrician needs to be experienced with the Goodwe specifically.

What is the problem you are experiencing?

What mode are you using, post your config screen shots so we can assist, maybe provide some useful info?

PV panels should be in series, pass through a fuse/disconnect before hitting the inverter. Are you getting alerts re the panels?

I have emailed them ... This does not seem to be a problem specifically with the inverter, but rather with the way the DB has been wired.

In November, I had to install a new DB due to space constraints, and the addition of a few more circuit breakers - Since that time, I have an issue where the Loads that are not on Backup keep drawing electricity from Grid, regardless of how much the PV is generating.

What will happen is my PV will go to Max generation, and in addition to that I will draw the actual load of the appliance/geyser from Grid

The installer that did the original installation was great, but their aftersales and support has been really poor - They are unwilling to help

There could be some settings issues here.

1) What mode is the inverter in?

2) There are two maximum DOD settings - one for on-grid and one for off-grid. What are they set to?

It is possible to set the inverter to just keep the battery at 100% SOC all the time - which is one way of looking at the graph you have shown here.

I disagree. It seems that the system is drawing the difference between load and available PV from the grid. Starting about 16:00 your load slowly drops and so does the PV, but the draw from grid (yellow line) is virtually flat.

You have cut off the left hand axis labels a bit, but if I am reading it right, your PV never gets as high as 2kw, which is ... interesting.

Looks like your current transformer (CT) is not connected or not installed correctly or at the correct location and orientation.

This was right on the money - CT incorrectly connected, not in proper orientation

Thanks to GreenMan and Bobster for the recommendations

The CT is connected to the EZ-Meter, it is the current clamp that measures the current on the incoming live before non-essentials.

Thanks. Just in case I ever have to tell an electrician to look out for it.
