Posted January 28, 20223 yr Has anyone had a successful experience connecting Pylontech UP5000's to Sunny Island Series 6-11 battery inverters and if so did the install also successfully include the connection of the COMMS cable? According to the SMA SI-LiIon-TI-en-45 doc connecting Pylontechs are approved but I am not sure on the COMMS cable wiring required. The other alternative I have been considering is the BYD BATTERRY BOX LV FLEX LITE units but the above SMA battery doc says not to use for off grid, maybe somebody can also pass on there experience with these models please.
January 28, 20223 yr I use US3000C with the older SI 5048 and had no problems. I did make my own CAN cable as the SI used pin 2 as CAN ground whereas the Pylon is pin 6. see FSS-ConnectingBat-Tl-en-10 SMA CAN protocol.pdf
January 28, 20223 yr Author Thank you for the invaluable feedback - I can definitely work with this. Did you find the Sunny Island responded well to the SOC readings etc. and were you happy with your decision to use the Pylontechs?
January 29, 20223 yr Yes all seems to work ok. The Pylontechs do seem to have a very good reputation and they have been manufacturing for some time so have some history. Their is an Australian web site that has results of long term testing of various batteries and they come out pretty well top. https://batterytestcentre.com.au/reports/ Edited January 29, 20223 yr by Tinbum
