February 4, 20224 yr Hi I'm wanting to run 2 laptops and 2 computer screens and a router in my home office. I just bought the Mecer 2400W inverter. Now trying to decide on batteries. What 12V batteries would you order and where? (I need 2) Is there a difference between the various brands? How long are they likely to last? I hear things from 1 to 4 years, but would prefer someone who's done a small setup before. Or would you go for a Lithium Ion but go for 2 smaller amp hour ones due to the cost! (I don't need much load - see above) Really appreciate the input! Thanks Alex
February 4, 20224 yr Hubble S-120. For two in series you will need an external battery balancer though. I have deployed the older Hubble S-100 with the Mecer 2400VA inverter before, they work well together.

I have replaced a friend's lead acid with the 2 x S100 and a 24V Hubble balancer and he loves the performance.

They only start to balance at 27.3V and stop at 26.6V I have found my 2 x S-100 never charges to higher than 27-27.2V. Then as the Victron balances at 0.7A not much balancing might take place by the time the batteries reaches 26.6V=13.3V per battery. After 3 months of use my S-100 are staying within 0.1V of each other and mostly at the same voltage.

The person in the best position to answer that question would be Steve from the Powerforumstore, he knows what works and what doesn't, and what cost-effective hacks can be done instead of using a balancer (like swopping the two batteries around, for example).
