bex_solar Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 Had an issue with a local installer who didnt check the Genset function prior to installing my inverter. A week after system was commissioned, local grid failed and the Genset started via AMF switch automatically. Good thing I was home and observed the Inverter backfeeding the Genny, so turned OFF the Genny and ran off Batts until the sun came back out and everything was fine. Long story short, I called the installer who came to "resolve" the problem and ended up blowing the AC side of the Inverter. I get a constant (F18) HW AC OverCurr Fault if the PV is on, therefore it has been isolated and decommissioned. I know the board was damaged because I heard a loud pop and saw a blue flash when the installer was checking the system while the Genset was online. My question guys, is a board replacement doable? Anyone familiar with the process? I am reticient to trust the installer who brought about this calamity and would most likely attempt this myself, or, should I simply find a suitable replacement. I really liked the Deye but open to other brands. Thanks for your time and any help you can give. Quote
Scorp007 Posted April 2, 2022 Posted April 2, 2022 (edited) I would have a 1st stop at the major sellers to try and have the board replaced. Inverters are not units that you fiddle around inside without some sound knowledge of the various blocks making up the proper operation. Just my view. 10 hours ago, bex_solar said: Had an issue with a local installer who didnt check the Genset function prior to installing my inverter. P1000 Posted April 2, 2022 Posted April 2, 2022 1st would be to try and get it fixed under warranty. If it can't be fixed under warranty, Sunsynk/Deye is probably the only place you will find whole boards. If they won't fix it under warranty, your best option is probably to pay them to fix it for you so that you still have a manufacturers warranty. I have not heard of any of these being repaired by a 3rd party (albeit I have a limited sample), but that usually indicates that the OEM is reasonable when it comes to repairs. Ideally the installer should accept responsibility and sort it out at his own cost. (assuming your account of events are correct) Quote
Steve87 Posted April 2, 2022 Posted April 2, 2022 The Deye inverter is the OEM of a Sunsynk inverter and a company called Sol-Ark in the US. The parts on the inside are identical. So there is a good parts on shelf inventory in SA especially because both these inverters are widely distributed and supported here in SA. Changing brand to a Sunsynk will get you the same product just with a different display colour and a few menu tweeks. As for the repair of this inverter, you will have to approach one of the suppliers and see if they can assist with a damage report and possible repair. Or first prize ask the supplier you bought it from. P1000 1 Quote
bex_solar Posted April 2, 2022 Author Posted April 2, 2022 Thanks for your responses guys! I appreciate it! Sadly though so there is a dearth of any parts or qualified repair services available, I live in The Bahamas, and will be contacting Sol-Ark and Deye to see if they can accommodate me on a OEM assessment and repair. The installer may have to be taken to court to be held accountable, time will tell. In the interim, I am out of service until I can effect a repair. Thanks again, and I will continue to learn from the forum and all the informative posts therein. Quote
Jaco123 Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Hi all Does anyone know, if I wanted to do a warranty claim BUT not through the seller (directly with deye) who would I contact? The company seems to be in China, so is there a sort of distributor or something in SA? Thanks Quote
