2 x Alpha Ess 10.1kw + Sunsynk 8.8kw - Battery 100% Then drops

Hi all,

Me again with a seemingly weird problem.
I have the following setup:
2 x Alpha Ess 10.1kw + Sunsynk 8.8kw

According to the inverter the batteries are at 100% (The battery led display says otherwise)

Am I missing a setting somewhere ?

It would take load when loadshedding and sometimes just drop all power.Sunsynk2.thumb.jpg.9016501fdc73c2cda272820855f6c768.jpgSunsynk1.thumb.jpg.e39232060d376c6f493d24cf8bf79a5d.jpg

Do you have battery comms? Pic of your LiBMS screen on the Sunsynk?

Hi, its connected by Can port - no  LiBMS  data (all items show 0)

Then you clearly have no inverter to battery BMS communications. This is what you would have to fix in order to solve the problem.

Does the battery's BMS support CAN communications with Sunsynk? Request this information from your supplier.

If it does, then try swopping out the CAN cable, after checking that the pinouts are correct (Your battery supplier / installer should have this info).

If not, then you will have to use AGM battery voltage settings on the inverter, the values can be provided by the battery supplier. This is a sub-optimal way of communicating battery SoC to the inverter, but can work, the only caveat is that the inverter will not be able to receive BMS charge and discharge messages, as well as BMS charge and discharge rate limiting.

Ø In the case of parallel mode or work mode, if Protection 09 appears and the power button is pressed 5 times within 10 seconds, the BMS will be forced to turn on MOS of discharge so that the battery voltage can be detected by the inverter and the battery can be charged.

Maybe this will help

Another question if I may, if I have the 2 batteries will the total AH be 400ah in the battery settings ?

If that is the total ah rating of your two batteries in parallel, then yes. It's best for the BMS to send this value to the inverter though.

I have no experience at all with that battery.

According to this comment by @Zeo786 with feedback from the distributor, the AlphaESS batteries are not compatible and they will void warranties if they are connected to Sunsynk/DEYE inverters.
