MakoShark Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 (edited) Hi guys, Just thought id post this here for anyone having similar issues, I noticed this morning that during loadshedding the inverter (5.5KW Sunsynk) stopped providing power to the house and I got a F56 alert that the DC voltage was low. After some investigation on my stats on the Solarman app I was able to see that after a firmware upgrade I had done in late February this issue had started. I noticed that I have been using more grid power as well since then and wondered if it was firmware but now I see it must be. I have requested the firmware to be rolled back to VE4.1.C which I think was stable. Having a look at the stats you can see below the issue where the battery has been having these dips where its not used and using grid power instead, obviously theres no grid to use during load shedding so the power dropped: Then if i go back to before the firmware upgrade every day I check there is none of these dips: Another example of the issue: Edited May 4, 2022 by MakoShark Quote
hdupreez Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 Hello, I am also considering upgrading my software, but might hold off if the version you have is buggy? What software is your machine running at the moment? The latest software should be: M3.3.7.4 and CE 4.2.4 Quote

The latest software should be: M3.3.7.4 and CE 4.2.4 Hey there, I am running that latest version but this issue started I think when I went to 4.2.x I think it was fine on 4.1.x but not sure, Im rolling back to 4.1.C to see if this fixes the issue or not but I have had 2 firmware upgrades in the 4.2.x version range and I have had the issue on both of them so far Quote
hdupreez Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 I am at the moment on C E4.2.0, but since I have a new system, I did not have load shedding yet, but it is planned for 14:00 to 16:30 today. I will check if my system responds similarly. Quote

Also note that you will only see this issue when the grid is off at night because during the day solar will mask the issue, it's only when running fully on battery that power will drop Quote
MakoShark Posted May 6, 2022 Author Posted May 6, 2022 (edited) I requested a downgrade of FW on the Sunsynk wenbsite on Wednesday but nothig has happened, not sure if anyone could help with it? Still seeing the same issues every day Edited May 6, 2022 by MakoShark Quote

What is the thickness of the cables and the length between the inverter and the battery? Quote

I can check that for you but like I said this used to work prior to upgrading the firmware, literally from the day I upgraded it started behaving like this Quote
MakoShark Posted May 9, 2022 Author Posted May 9, 2022 Still no downgrade done by Sunsynk since I requested it last wednesday, I have submitted another request Quote

Nah they havnt, but with upgrades then never do as well, even though you add your email and phone details on the form you complete for it, they just do the upgrade and you dont even get notified its done Quote

Have been thinking of getting a Sunsynk 5kw inverter... this doesn't inspire confidence. Quote

The inverter itself is great but yeah I don't know about support, also not able to get control to remotely change settings... Have never got this right and not sure if it's possibe without 3rd party software / raspberry pi as well as not being able to manage your own firmware updates \ upgrades Edited May 9, 2022 by MakoShark Quote

TimCam Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Solar Assistant also allows remote settings, but not upgrades. Quote

I've tried to get this working and have the business app set up and my plant associated with it so if anyone knows how to get that working I'd appreciate it as well Quote

It’s not enabled by default. Edited May 9, 2022 by PowerUser Quote

MakoShark Posted May 10, 2022 Author Posted May 10, 2022 (edited) I called Sunsynk support and spoke to a tech who says they dont normally recommend downgrading firmware but will see what he can see... But he was convinced it's load based which it's not, it's when there is low load on the system, no correlation to load and it litterally changed the day after I upgraded firmware. He says he will call me back about what he finds out Edited May 11, 2022 by MakoShark Quote
