Good day

I'm new to solar and with all the loadshedding, I got myself a 3kva axpert inverter with 2 120amp gel batteries. No panels at the moment. I need help with the settings. Everything is on default at the moment. Its works but only lasts about an hour. Only have the Tv 55" (130w) with the router connected. I'm assuming my settings must be wrong. Please help...

I have been doing load tests on with a 3 KVA axpert inverter and 2 x 100 amp/hr gel batteries , loaded with a constant 400 watt you will get over 3 hours of backup time.

Ramp the load to 800 watts and you will get less than an hour.

Loading a 120Ah battery at 800W is 33A and quite a high ask from the battery on a daily basis. Even a Gel would not stand up to it for very long.

The short 1h will be due to the SOH of battery I would guess.

@RodgerX

Perhaps indicate what settings you are using like Gel setting or if USER then settings 12  13  26  27  29

That is why I am asking myself, why I would spend R10K + before installation or bypass sub DB etc, on a 3KVA inverter (2400watt) to backup 300 watts. Its just seems like such a waste of money.

The low load could be always on. It is still great to have a 2.4kw inverter to at least be in a position to heat up prepared food in a micro during LS. Only 5 min needed. Also 4min for drying hair before setting of to work for SWAMBO. Also higher loads when the power does fail to come on after LS as we are finding more and more. Just look at JHB lately.
