SolergyAdmin Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 (edited) I have 2 Growatt SPF5000ES for sale due to parallel issues. 1 is from the early 2022 production line, the second from the later line. PCB Boards differ and do not allow for correct comms between each other and Pylontechs. Inverters were mounted and connected but never supplied loads due to the comms issues. Client insists on brand change to LuxPower, supplier does not have stock so need to sell these and purchase else where. Can be purchased individually or together. Asking price R22 700.00 for both, R11 350.00 each or to swap for 2 new 5kVa LuxPowers with Parallel capability. Location: Rynfield, Benoni. Edited May 23, 2022 by SolergyAdmin Adding location Quote
zsde Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 @SolergyAdminIf I may, have you had confirmation from Growatt that it is a fact that they are using different PC boards which inhibit the comms between models with identical product codes? i.e. if I were to buy a second SPF-5000ES-Pro, which I am considering to parallel mine, then there is no guarantee it will actually communicate with the new one? Mine was installed in Aug 21. Is this not a firmware mismatch? Quote
SolergyAdmin Posted May 24, 2022 Author Posted May 24, 2022 Morning @zsde I have been in communication with a Growatt Service Technician who advised that both the main and comms boards are different. The older inverter would need to have both replaced to correct communication and then the firmwares matched (this is another tedious exercise) In my research, on another forum, a member, after using 3 different laptops with 5 different cables, eventually managed to establish PC-Inverter communication in order to flash firmware on the new model. zsde Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 (edited) Hi @SolergyAdmin Thanks for that info. That is a bummer then unless I can source another one from the same batch. As far as Firmware update, when I did mine it was a breeze. Had no issues whatsoever. Can you check the user manual front page right bottom. In small print on mine it says Version 2.0 Was that changed for the later batches? Also interested if they changed the Part Number. Mine is SKDV06.GC0900 If they maintain the same Model Name and Part Number, then that would be pretty devious by not advising the consumers that later batches are not compatible with earlier batches in terms of parallel comms. I have sent a query about this to the International Growatt Rep in China. Edited May 24, 2022 by zsde Quote

I'll PM you his ctc details. According to Growatt there should be no comms issues even if the comms boards differ from the earlier batches. Regards Bernhard Quote

Mine is Version 4.0 on both recent purchases (old and new model purchased 2 days apart) The last 3 old versions have been SKSL00.0010501 - The 2 new models differed from one another: SKSL00.0009002/0011301. When I started doing the research on the new model problems, there was mention of a few different pc boards doing circulation, with different firmware versions. zsde 1 Quote

WilliamP Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 I was wondering why my firmware was different than anyone else on this forum! Does that mean I have the batch that canno't be parallel with older version? By the way, mine just fried 18 days after installation, the MPPT board is being replaced at the moment. See attached pictures. Quote
