RCT-AXVMIII 3kW Solar Input Not Charging Battery or Supplying the Load

Hi guys,

Hope you guys can help me.

I have 2 questions. But lets 1st look at the most important ONE 1st

QUESTION 1(The PV shows Voltage, BUT not Watt or Amps)

I checked the inverter says MPPT PV 120-450Vdc .. This is 3 x 645W Canadian Solar in Series. During day with a bit of sun on the panels

I have (2 x 12V 205ah LA[Lead acid] in series) and another (2 x 12V 205ah LA in series) the 2 series sets are wired parallel on my inverter battery input

I also noticed that the solar ICON keeps on flashing. Booklid don't say anything about this flashing of THIS ICON

Also at night the Solar Icon is not displayed on the Inverter as I would expect

FYI This pictures taken was during  load shedding with minimal household items on

I also checked after the Day.. No Watt was added via PV

Firmware

The above was with everything as per default

I tried modifying Program Setting

01 = SbU (solar to loads, then Battery)
05 is Still Default AGM battery type (not sure if this should be flooded???)🤔
16 Charger source priority C50 (solar then Utility)

Today its raining and cold in CPT, so I cannot give feedback on the changes I tried last night at 18:00

Checked the inverter and still the same.. no Watt, even though I have 137 VDC PV input

Thanks in advance

None of your images are visible. They seem to be links to your private email, which we can't see.

Eve though the MPPT will operate as low as 120 V, it usually needs a higher voltage to start. Three 645 W panels in series is only about 113 V Vmp; open circuit they would be about 134 V. I'd say that this is too low to get the solar charing started. You will need a fourth panel (or more).

It means that the panels are detected, but are not within specification. That's why you get no PV power. Once the voltage is high enough for the panel icon to stay on steady, you will get PV power.

Thanks so much.

ya yoir right. I just copied from my mail to the supplier. That haven't gotten back to me yet😬

i was planning to add another 3 panels. So i will order them right away

My next question would be. I see the BlueTouch Icon on the inverter display, but my Iphone13 don't see to find it in the BlueTouch availible devices. Any advise here?  I can add the BlueTouch revision

00-24

Thanks in advance

Hi Carel,

I have the same RCT Inverter as you. My experience with the past 2 years led me to believe that there are some short comings of the inverter.

These inverters only draw enough power from the PV's to supply the load. It will not use all the available PV power. Mostly it will draw from your battery and use PV power to keep the batteries charged. (With setting SBU) (With SUB it's a bit of "sharing" between PV and "EKSDOM")

For lead Acid Batteries, it will use power to keep batteries at 100% and if batteries are getting older the inverter will work harder (use more power) to keep them 100%. That's why it will check/charge the SOC  every few seconds/minutes. (That's with AGM, FLOODED battery settings.) Is your batteries AGM, GEL or just Lead Acid?

Actually it's "Bluetooth" ...... You must use "WatchPower" - (Available from Google Playstore) and is available for Android phones. That's why you may be battling to get connected. (Also the max distance from the inverter must be within 10 meters.)

Just a confirmation. Your Main CPU should be vers 41.14 and MCU vers 2.61. Correct??

Thank you for you reply.

From what I read in this forum I get to the same conclusion as you🤢 about our inverter. Still beter that Loadshedding😮💨

My Batteries are 200Ah Lead acid

2 sets of 12v+12v (series) -->coupled in parallel with one another

I did install WatchPower from the appleStore. But even when i stand next to inverter my iphone don't get the bluetouch on the availible devices

I can update my ios on my iphone, but I don't think this will solve my issue

my firmware as follows

Main U1-41-17

Card U2-102-71

Bluetouch U3-00-24

Thanks in advance

I would suggest that you change it to "USER" which will allow you more control over the voltages. Lead Acid \ Flooded Batteries have normally 14.5 to 14.8 volt (Per 12v battery) for charging and 13.6 to 13.8 volts for float. I would use 29.2 Volts for bulk charging, 27.4 Volts for float and Cutoff voltage at 23 volts. Back to grid I use 24.5 volts and back to Battery power at 29.2 volt. That's what used when I used OmniPower AGM/GEL hybrid batteries.

But it depends what voltages your batteries used for charging.

Just my 2 cents. :)
