Mike UK
Hi everyone. I'm in the United Kingdom so different setup and priorities to most of you it would appear. I don't have power cuts or power shedding. I have 40 solar panels in 4 strings running through a Fronious 4.6kw inverter installed by myself 8 years ago and been running great. This system is mounted on my shed 40 metres from my house and is converted to 240v mains voltage at the shed through the Fronious, effectively running backwards up the sub main cable that feeds the shed from the house. In March this year I added a Zappi car charger for our new electric MG car. All going great and car charging off surplus solar. I also have Economy 7 electricity tariff which is half price electricity for 7 hours from 2am until 9am. And I can export surplus solar to the grid as I have a 2 way meter and not a prepaid. This weekend I've added a Sunsynk 5kw inverter/charger with a Sunsynk 5.6kw battery and am really struggling to get it setup. Because the Sunsynk needs it's CT on the property incoming main meter feed I've fitted the Sunsynk equipment in the house and thus can't have my solar panels connected into the Sunsynk MPPTs. At the moment I have only wired the grid feed into the Sunsynk with the thoughts that it will just run the whole house. I haven't wired the load terminals of the Sunsynk to an essential load fuse board yet, but I can easily do that. Is it absolutely necessary? Finally I'll ask about my immediate problem. I'm trying to set the Sunsynk to charge it's battery from the grid. It's dark so there is no solar to confuse the CT. I'm setting the system mode to 100% and it will import from the grid through the inverter and charge the battery but only for a few minutes, and then suddenly flip and start exporting from the battery to the grid. So I go back into the settings and they have changed by themselves to 20% and the gen box has checked itself. So I change the figures back to 100% and uncheck the gen boxes, pressing ok after every alteration, and it charges the battery again for another few minutes until it flips again. My battery is now almost down to 30% and I cannot charge it. Any advice greatly received. SYC
Hi, Call Sunsynk support Sunsynk - Developing future eco-solutions and ask them to upgrade your machine to the last firmware. They will also assist you with settings the way you would like it to work for you. Edited June 14, 2022 by Quwatush Shams (Suly)
