June 18, 20224 yr I have a client, with a BayHouse on Bronkies dam. He wants me to replicate his system he has installed at his main residence at this property. Only difference is, the old residence has a garage to house everything. The new residence has nothing. he wants me to install the 8.8kw SunSynk inverter outside with the battery inside, right behind the inverter. Battery will be 2x 10/8 FreedomWon batteries. now my concern is theft. I want to install the inverter in a stee enclosure that can be locked, ACDC has a 1200mm x 800mm x 320mm cabinet with fans for 8k. will mounting the inverter in a cabinet void the warranty in any way?
June 18, 20224 yr Hi As far as I know and understand the inverter needs to be well ventilated as described in the installation manual. The cabinet will definitely stop good ventilation. The inverter will get hot when in use and it needs good ventilation for cooling. If you drill holes in the steel enclosure with fans it will not be weatherproof. The recommended clearance is 50cm to the side. So I do believe it would affect the warranty. Edited June 18, 20224 yr by Peter Topp

For R8000-00, is it not possible to have a small enclosure built, if not bricks, maybe prefab, and with ventilation?
June 20, 20224 yr The exit of the cubicle air flow you can also use the pivoting shutters used in walls on extractor fans. This will prevent water entering. At another point where air enters you can get a plate cut with slots where the metal is bend up words to prevent water entering. The inlet can also be at the bottom of the cubicle. This a fine mesh. Perhaps the easier method. Edited June 20, 20224 yr by Scorp007

The one from ACDC had 6 fans installed already. For ventilation. Space is very limited where I need to mount the inverter. 1.2m at most. And then Walking past the enclosure will be tricky.
June 20, 20224 yr My take on it. According to the Sunsynk spec sheet: (quote) Operating Temperature Range (℃) -25~60°C, >45°C Derating So if fitted into a weatherproof enclosure, and operating within the design specification, I can see no reason why the warrantee should not be honored. Also, the Sunsynk is IP65 rated (if all the glands seal properly) so dust and moisture intrusion is not an issue. Edited June 20, 20224 yr by Induna
