August 29, 20224 yr Good Day , need some assistance. My father installed 2x UP5000 Pylontech batteries to his Synapse 5.0k inverter. Everything is running , PV`s are charging the batteries but the system goes to bypass after 10min. It displays a error 61 communication error stating the inverter is not communicating to the batteries. We not sure why we getting this error? We using a standard comms cable between the inverter and the CAM port on the batteries and we not 100% sure if the batteries dip switches is in the correct position. We have 1 on , 2,3,4 off on both batteries. We did try different positions on the second battery but error remains. Please assist if possible.
August 29, 20224 yr Shutdown everything including the batteries, change the DIP switches accordingly On Off Off Off - Master Off Off Off Off - Slave Start up your batteries, give it a minute to settle, start inverter
August 29, 20224 yr Hi Nico, what cable are you using? Is it the cable supplied by Pylontech or by synapse? It is definitely not a normal LAN cable, it must be an appropriately made up cable used for this task. Did you use the PYL setting on the inverter which is menu setting 5?? Just trying to figure out all the possible faults that's causing this. From the sticker you have provided on the above post I don't think you have a very modern machine which has the Pylontech battery protocol embedded. Not all models have the direct Pylontech Comms unfortunately. Edited August 29, 20224 yr by Steve87

We did not get cable so we used a normal network cable. I read the pylon tech instructions and removed pin 1-3 from the cable but still not communicating. We tried the above setting from PsyWulf but still getting the error 61.
August 29, 20224 yr It's a pleasure. I hope this gets you to the solution & the Error 61 is no more 🥴
August 30, 20224 yr Author I`m glad to report we finally have the batteries communicating with the inverter. It seams the the pin layout for a Axpert VMIII / KING 48V/5KW SOLAR INVERTER / CHARGER is the same as the Synapse 5KV inverter. Error 61 is gone, and everything is now operating perfectly. We used the dip switch settings as PsyWolf recommendation.
September 22, 20223 yr Hi all, I have the exact same inverter, but with two Fox ESS 2nd Life (LV2600) batteries. The battery manual gives the PIN layout for its RS485 and CAN ports (very nice to actually have this is a manual), and it is the same as your battery PINs (6-GND, 7-RS485A, and 8-RS485B). Before I make my own cable, what did you do with PIN 6-GND from the battery side to the inverter side, or was this not needed? I can set LI B, LI C or CAN as the battery type on the inverter; anybody know what the difference is between these and maybe which one to use for the LV2600? Thanks all for the help.
