Can I modify a 950w Ryobi cheapie genny to directly access the 12vdc from it, and bypass the internal inverter?

I want to use it to charge my solar batteries during LS on cloudy days- I'm worried that by connecting an external 220-12VDC power supply I will have too much loss.

Any ideas?

We bought one of these and I have to say at R300 for a 30A unit is dirt cheap. The output is stable and overload is very sensitive. Output will not charge a lead acid full. This remains what I use for lithium up to 90% SOC. Very low losses at high current. I did not check at low currents. Fan only runs at higher loads.
