Axpert King 5kva (Mecer SOL-I-AX-5KP) Lithium compatibility

Featured Replies

Good day,

I currently use a Mecer SOL-I-AX-5KP inverter with 4 agm 12v batteries as a backup system.

I’m investigating to replace the batteries with a BSL Battery 51.2V - 135Ah CANBUS (7kWh).

I’m wondering if communication between the battery bms and inverter will be possible (using the inverter ‘PyL’ option on battery type), or should I select the ‘USE’ battery type on the inverter and define the specs according to battery requirements.

Or is there a better option for a lithium battery to go with the inverter?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Willie

Presumably, your inverter's firmware won't have the PyL option, nor does it have a removable display with a battery BMS RS-485/CAN port.

You can however use a Raspberry Pi with suitable cable and monitoring software to talk to the battery BMS, if the monitoring software supports your proposed battery type.

It's quite possible to use a lithium battery with battery type USE and no cable, you just miss out on some safeguards.

You could also use a Solar MD battery with their V2 Logger. The logger will interface with the inverter via RS232 & with the battery via CAN bus.

@WillieS, I Just happened across my reply from over a week ago. I don't know what I was thinking, Kings DO have a removable display, with BMS RS-485/CAN port, so it should have the PyL battery type option.

My apologies for any confusion.
