Posted December 14, 20222 yr Hi all, New to posting on the forum but very thankful for all the valuable info on the posts so far. I have a 5KW Mecer with a 16-500449-01G mainboard I am trying to repair. Let me just add that I'm an electronics hobbyist and not an electronic engineer. I realise it is easier to just replace the entire board, but the sea turtles will gently weep if I don't at least attempt a repair first. When power is applied on the battery terminals, it goes into a fast on-off loop and doesn't start up. The LCD backlight comes on briefly but switches off immediately. There seems to be a clicking sound coming from the area on the photo which I believe to be the low power PSU section? The strange thing is it sounds like a shoot-through on the transformer. I can't quite place the exact source of the sound but it is definitely around that area of the board an not coming from a relay. Is this something the esteemed power forumers have come across before? Any help will be very much appreciated. PS. If someone has a new board or an old one for spares, I'd be interested. Sea turtle tears for my failure notwithstanding. Rudie
December 14, 20222 yr Have a look at the Repairs and Hardware Modifications page, under the heading "Problems with Starting or staying on, resetting or flashing of display." For the sea turtles 🐢. There can be various causes.
