Posted December 31, 20222 yr I recently commissioned the installation of an Axpert MKS IV (Mecer) inverter with a Hubble AM5 battery. The technician setup the system using the parameters recommended on the hubble website (https://www.hubblelithium.co.za/mecer) with bulk and float voltages set to 55.2V. However, when loadshedding kicks the battery voltage immediately drops to ~53V and the inverter reports the battery capacity as ~57%. How do I get around this issue while still maintaining the recommended parameters?
January 1, 20232 yr You're manually setting voltages, so there's no Comms between the battery BMS and the Inverter. Without those Comms the inverter has no idea what the actual SOC of the battery is. It's not a problem as long as the correct cut off voltagess were set (and it sounds like they have been). No need to stress about it Edited January 1, 20232 yr by madness_za
January 2, 20232 yr Author Thanks for the response. I would ideally prefer the inverter be connected to the battery BMS however, there are no instructions related to that on neither the hubble site nor the inverter manual. Have contacted hubble directly to ask advice. Will ideally find a solution if and when they respond. Edited January 2, 20232 yr by Deen
January 2, 20232 yr It's likely that Hubble doesn't have Comms support for the Axpert type inverters, which is why they specify the User settings (manual voltage).
January 2, 20232 yr Not every battery and inverter will have the correct Comms protocol in place. I have a similar situation with my livoltek battery and Axpert inverter. In my case my installer developed a solution to monitor the battery using a pi. I have a grafana page that shows me both battery and inverter data.

It allows you to monitor your Inverter data and battery data independently within the same software suite. https://solar-assistant.io/help/general/introduction
January 2, 20232 yr My guess is that they'll tell you to install their RIOT device, which seems to be a small external box that translates protocols. You may wish to look up what a RIOT can do for your inverter and battery combination.
