So I get that Deye manufactures the inverters for SunSynk.

Then SunSynk customizes them with a more Westernized interface on the screen.

The inside components are the same.

Here is my question.

At time the SunSynk is R10k plus more expensive.

Is the "Westernized interface" really worth R10k?

Is there anytingh that the SunSynk can do that the Deye cant?

Also read somewhere that SunSynk has app and Deye uses Desktop browser.

To be honest I MUCH prefer using Desktop Browser.

So basically in ppracticle terms what is the difference?

If I buy the Deye and learn the interface can I achiece the exact same thing and is it all english?

Personal 2c. Can't speak for the online interfaces, but the on-screen display on the Deye machine itself is not terrible. Not inferior to the point of a R10K difference. Power generation functions are basically the same. If in doubt, read the device manuals online before buying. All in reasonably intelligible English.

I have Sunsynk - so can't speak to the Deye interface

But other than the initial setup, I am managing any setting changes (to match loadshedding) via SolarAssistant from my phone/iPad/computer.

Can't even remember when I last used the interface on the inverter itself...

I have installed both. To me absolutely no difference especially if using Solar assistant because both the solar man logger & the Sunsynk logger are just not practical. Where the extra money is well spent is with the local support. Sunsynk have a repair centre & HQ here. Deye will not repair here & you will be at the mercy of supply chain RMA & a 3rd party that wont return your money nor carry out a repair.

It's your choice to roll the dice. Is the 5 to 10k worth the piece of mind. Each one will answer this differently. But absolutely nothing wrong with the Deye interface or the Sunsynk. The Sunsynk you can add your name & some niceties. But let's not kid ourselves. It's the same stuff & menus just one is blue & another is yellow. They both have common abilities.

The sunsynk is just a deye with a different screen. All the values can be fetched from a deye and the screen of a sunsync can easily be drawn in software to be identical to the sunsync (there is a home assistant plugin that does this).

The only difference would be when it comes to support and repairs should something break.

Just from speaking to people, it does sound like Sunsynk offers better after-sales support than Deye. Like yourself my concern would be part availability and serviceability, nothing worse than running into an issue and having to wait months for assistance/repairs...

Has anything changed with regards to Sunsynk vs Deye? Looking at the 8kw units, with about a R3k price difference.

Things I've heard is that Deye software requires continuous updates, whereas SS is more stable. But that doesn't quite make sense to me.

Thanks

This is anecdotal - both platforms are stable and provide similar levels of functionality - the UI layer is just different
