Hi All, very new to this whole so i'm winging it on internet knowledge!

i want to buy a Kodak 5KW Inverter and add a 3.68KW battery whic is 1.5C giving a continous discharge of 4.5KW. However, the website says that i need a 150A Busbar. What is this?

The other option is to buy a Sunsynk (cost more although on sale at the monet) 5.12KW battery which is 1C giving 4.5KW continous discharge as well. Should i buy the the Sunsynk or the Kodak?

If it's similar to the Greenrich 3.68 kWh, then at 1.5C the battery has a consistent discharge of up to 116A, but it can surge to 2C, or 144A maximum battery discharge. Basically you need wiring that can handle that type of current.

Obviously the Sunsynk battery has got nearly 40% more storage on-board, so the first question is really whether you need the longer runtime during loadshedding, and are willing to pay the extra cost for 5.12kWh versus 3.68kWh.

Intuitively it makes sense to me to match inverter and battery brands if possible, but I don't know enough to speak definitively on whether the Sunsynk battery will match to the Kodak inverter.

Personally I'd have made it a choice of a Kodak 5kW/3.6kWh inverter/battery combo or a Sunsynk 5kW/5kWh inverter/battery combo, on the understanding that Sunsynk combo's feature set and warranty is greater, but that the Kodak (which model?) could be a low-cost alternative that might be perfectly adequate for your needs.

Thanks GF. The model is KODAK Solar Off-Grid Inverter VMIII 5kW 48V. The Solar battery is around R19 500 whilst the Sunsynk is going for R23 000.

Perhaps it would be better to use Growatt as i've seen on another website that its compatible with Sunsynk?

Is the battery from a online store?

R19500 one if you don't mind me asking. I am shopping around for about the same size kit

Apologies for the delayed response. Two websites are selling it (price has gone up now to R20 300):

https://solarbackup.co.za/product/kodak-3-68kwh-48v-battery-2c/

https://tripplehydro-energy.co.za/store/Greentech-3-68kWh-Lithium-ion-Battery-p411502400

Check out their credentials first. Its R3000 - 4000 cheaper that the other websites.
