Hi Guys,

something similar found on another post here, so not sure if scam or not, so has anyone tried any of these guys or used this battery. Im looking for a bettery setup for my system but nothing to break the bank at the moment

Price seems to good to be true, but same on both sites, sites also look like they done well just small spelling on 1

or https://energy-outlet.co.za/product/n-energy-48kwh-lithium-ion-battery-rack-mount/?gclid=CjwKCAiA8OmdBhAgEiwAShr409zCYDTMIjp9WAWYWxTjlByAEDar2-uqSbQ3-s89d9NXpxsvvJWB4RoC0-4QAvD_BwE

or https://solarboerwarehouse.co.za/product/10kwh-lithium-ion-batteries-back-to-school-sale-40/

also, what mm cable are you using from your batteries to inverter ive got an 5kva Axpert inverter but looking at either going 4 deep cycle or a 5.1kw lithium battery

thanks

Well, I don't know these suppliers specifically so I cannot say whether they are legit or not. However, from experience too good to be true often is... hopefully someone else has had some experience with them and can confirm if they are legitimate or not...

As for the battery cable, 25mm welding cable is usually your best bet for battery cable. High current capacity and low resistance, perfect conditions for battery cables and they usually have a decent amount of safety room on the cables limits...

Scam, has all the hallmarks

Price, too good to be true

Go look at the prices here on the powerforum store. That's the ballpark you can expect to pay for batteries, sometimes you may get lucky and score something at 10-15% less, but with current demand and loadshedding, you are not going to score a deal, win the lotto or become Eskom CEO

I have no opinion about the outlet, but I'd steer clear of that battery. 100ah but you can only charge or discharge at 20A? That's a slow recharge, which you may get away with depending on time between outages, and not a lot of backup power - a bit under 1kW.  Which may be why it's cheap.

For 4 or 5 grand more you can get a Revov with a little more capacity. For 8 to 10 grand more you can get a Hubble 5.5 kWh (prices obtained with 10 sec of googling). Either will give you a much better charge and discharge rate (4x for the Revoc, 5x for the Hubble), so faster charge and more that you can back up.

Also I don't see any CAN connection on that NEnergy product, so comms with some inverters will be a problem.

Not all lithium batteries are equal. Not all 5kWh lithium batteries are equal.

Thanks Guys, ill look at those other brands, ive been looking at the Hubble over the last month but saw many people advising their service is very bad and only way some get it to work is to buy a cloud connect for it.

Thanks, was also looking at the 25mm but the lithium cable looks a lot thinner, so guess ill wait to see what battery im going to get then do the cable

Hubble can be a pain, the cloud connect definitely makes it easier. You could get Hubble to work with inverters without it but monitoring the batteries becomes difficult without the cloud connect...

You can find a lot of legit suppliers, while the specials aren't as good there are places that aren't too expensive. If you're in JHB drop me a DM and I'll send you a list of some of the suppliers I know and trust for decent prices and services.

Yeah, you could probably get away with a thinner cable in many occasions... I usually advise a minimum of 16mm but 25mm is a safer option and should be ample regardless of the ratings on the battery/inverter.

Hi, any place you can recommend that sells them at a good price

also does anyone know how the super cap batteries are and what they go for.

how many hours will a 5.1kwh lithium battery give if the draw on it is between 500 to 1000w

thanks

I don't own a Hubble, and I'm not an installer. I hold no brief for that brand.

That 20A current limit on that Nenergy battery seems to me to be problematic. The other brands I mentioned (by no means the only alternatives) both offer faster charging and can carry a higher load.

So if I made the point that not all 5kWh lithium batteries are equal, and there are good reasons why some cost more (or why some are cheap) then that's the point I wanted to make.

About 10-5hrs.

  • 3 weeks later...

solarboer is definitely a scam. The other 2 have the same specials , same picture as well. I'd say 99% they are a scam as well.

All just have random google street view images at their addresses. This is common with the scammers.

There seem to be so many scam businesses in the solar game , you have to be very careful or you will be scammed.

Ask them if you can come and see the items you are interested in at their "premises" and see what excuses they come up with.

Does anybody know what is going on at BOVUA SOLAR? I bought a lot from them over the last few months. Made a purchase last week, paid, confirmed. Now suddenly can not get hold of them on any platform.

I would also be wary. Reason is pricing too good to be true all the time. Thus not on short period specials. Also payment, premises, telephone contact, see the goods etc.
