Hello
I want to buy a backup system, which I later will connect to solar pannels.
My question is what inverter and what battery should i get.
At this stage I need to choose between the following:
1. Luxpower Inverter Hybrid (5kW) and a 5.12 kWh Dyness battery
2. Deye 5kW 48V hybrid inverter and a Pylontech UP5000 4.8kW Lithuim ion Battery (PT-UP5000)
3. Deye 5kw 48 hybrid inverter and a hubble 5am battery.
4. Or maybe something else (Budget between R50 000 and R70 000).
Can someone please explain to me the difference between a luxpower inverter and Deye inverter.
Thanks

Hello, @cecil.58 Have a look at this offer I personally think it's a good price for 5 KVA.

5KW GROWATT WITH 5.12KWH LBSA BACKUP KIT – Energy Outlet (energy-outlet.co.za)

GreenFields, why is that?

Most batteriescurrently on the market are rated 0.5C, which means they will allow you safely pull about half of their rated capacity (e.g 1KW battery, max 500w can be pulled for a load) - I'm using a very simplistic definition here, you can google "Battery C Rating" to find the more technical definition

Some newer batteries (Hubble, Livoltek, Grenrich etc) are rated 1C or higher which means you can pull the full rated power of the battery for a load

Just got a quote for a Hubble am 2.
What is the difference between a hubble am2 and hubble am5.
And is am 2 just as good as am 5

The AM-2 is listed as having fire suppression, the AM-5 is not. Which may suggest that the AM-2 is more likely to need it. Both are 1C. The am-2 has a slightly higher capacity.

Why are people still buying Hubble batteries?Seriously, some of the main installers/promoters of Hubble on this forum  have openly said they are not supporting them anymore after hundreds of batteries installed because of all the problems and lack of support . Do more research before you buy people .

I fully agree!!! I have endless problems with 2 x AM-2's they use BYD NMC cells. They state that they undervolt them for longevity. It seems that their BMSs are misconfigured cells not balancing.  Much rather Pylontech or Freedom won -e tower expandable to 30kw

Go for Luxpower LXP 5000 and Pylontech UP5000 and tell the installer to leave room for expansion. Deye and Pylontech is still ok too

What is the recommended battery then? I prefer the wall mount option to the Pylons rack mount. I really thought the Hubble's are the battery to get and was about to buy one, so Im genuinely interested to know what to go for. The Freedom won stuff is quite expensive compared to most other brands and its the only other local brand I know of.

Revov and Bluenova are local too.

I have no issues with my 3 Hubble AM-2s. I also have Pylontech US-3000s at another home, no issues either.

I am aware of some issues that a few members of this forum had with their AM-2s, as far as I know these issues were eventually sorted out.

Admittedly Hubble support went through some challenges and issues last year, this was probably due to volume of sales due to their huge popularity, as well as their move to a new ticketing system. They seem to have fixed that now, and I recently received a new Cloudlink device from them to replace an older one that was playing up.

Why is Hubble much cheaper hence the reason everyone is bying them. They contain 2nd life cells that has been used in high demand applications and have between 70-90% capacity left. Freedom One more expensive but using Grade A cells. Hubble wants to sort problem via a cloudlink that is your problem right there no boots on the ground and very poor after sales service i am ticket number 125 and my client want answers what happens!!! You get a bad reputation. I won't recommend Hubble due to expierience. I have 2x BSL 6.4kWh on my testbench at the moment very impressed. Like the saying goes you get wat you pay for and believe me you don't want to buy twice$$$$

This is a hard question actually, because most members of this forum won't have experience with multiple brands, and I'd imagine some installers won't be able to comment freely.

My own experience is of two brands of battery: Revov (but not any model in their current range) and Freedom Won (LITE, not the e-Tower). And for me it is literally chalk and cheese. With the Freedom Won in place I have better comms between BMS and inverter (and with much easier setup) and the system is more stable. Plus they take up less space and there's no need for racks, cable packs etc. OK... that is comparison between those two brands, so it's not a lot of information.

Interesting points and they all make sense. Im buying a Sunsyk inverter so will probably end up getting the Sunsynk battery to go with it, I see the warranty on the inverter gets extended to 10 years if Sunsynk batteries are used.

Read the Synsynk warrenty clause carefully the 10 years will only be applicable if the battery cycles is less than 700/ year that equates to 1.9 cycles per day you might not achieve that with current load shedding cycles. Great product true bi derectional parity inverter will blend all energy sources available when Eskom is on.
