Posted January 15, 20232 yr Hi all! I had a 7.6kWp solar PV system, with 1 x Sunsynk 16kW inverter and 2 x 5.12kW Sunsynk batteries. On the roof there are 19 JA 405 solar panels. I have the Sunsynk app, which frankly baffles me, but appears to be suggesting that I am exporting to the grid (see photo), despite me not having a smart meter! I have tried speaking to the installer a few times and they l reassures me they have jiggled with it (remotely), but I am not convinced. I really struggle with what this app is telling me, but it does appear to tell me it is still exporting to the grid and the battery never goes above 32%? Quite simply, I want any pv generated to first serve current load demand. Any left over, I want to charge the batteries as much as I can - under no circumstances do I want to charge the batteries from the grid untill I am on a better tariff. I am down for a smart meter installation (been waiting 2 months), but once all that is done, I would be happy to export any excess to the grid. Basically, could some wise person have a look at screen shots of my inverter and tell me if it is set up to reflect the above?
January 16, 20232 yr Untick Solar Export You say your batteries never go above 32% - where are you located? Are you also able to share the last 2 or 3 days PV production from the app?
January 16, 20232 yr Author Hi mzezman Thanks for replying -I'm located in the North West of England near Wigan, so the weather has been unsurprisingly quite cloudy since install! I really don't know if I am reading the app right, but the app always shows the battery icon at 32% (the wattage varies below it). I have attached graph data for the last three days - is there a way to present it differently?
January 17, 20232 yr Have the batteries checked out. SOH - State of Health - is being reported as 0% and there is no power going in or out of them even at times when according to the settings and PV generation there should have been. In a low cost tariff slot, try to activate grid charge and de-activate the timer to see if they take any charge.
January 17, 20232 yr Otherwise turn off the mains switch to see if there is any draw from the backup battery.
January 18, 20232 yr Author Hi Greenfields, thank you for your reply. I tried turning off the mains this morning at 8:45 and everything electric went off, which seems to say the battery was empty. I suspected that the batteries were not charging - can you tell where you get the information of SOC at 0% from so 8 can go back to the installer?

Under battery data, see the Li-BMS page in the images above. According to that the SOC is 32%, and then right next to it, the info for SOH. State of health of the battery is 0%.
