1500v is too high,  becoming impractical for a cost effective inverter. 400v on the other hand is good, it actually matches the required 400VDC on the dc bus required to chop 220VAC, although an isolation xformer will still be required. 

And at 400VDC your copper requirement is already 8 times less than a 48V battery.

BUT I am also afraid even 400VDC is way too lethal for DIY and the not so competent segment of the installation market.

You would first have to find an inverter/charger that can handle it. I don't know of any.
