Posted March 29, 20232 yr I’m in Zimbabwe. I bought a Kodak 5.48 about 3 years ago. It’s been working fine. I bought another Kodak 5.48 last year. It’s all wired up and tested BUT when I try to enable parallel on the new inverter it says the 2 inverters must have the same firmware. The older inverter was updated to 071.97 using usb But the newer one fails with U03 followed by warning 32. The newer inverter has firmware 00092.00 which may be the source of the update failure. The segen firmware download link given to my registered supplier doesn’t work any more. Does anyone know how I can resolve the problem to avoid sending the inverter back to my supplier who will have to return it to segen in SA. I’m trying to avoid the stiff transport cost and possible additional customs duty

Identical firmware versions are not actually necessary, though if you can achieve it, it's a good sign that the firmwares are actually going to be compatible. I don't know King (OG-Plus = King) firmware version 92.00; my guess is that it's for the '28066 processor, but has the same logic as firmware version 72.00. Both 71.97 and 72.00 use the same paralleling constant, so if I'm right, you should not be getting fault code 71. Have you checked that the output voltages are the same? If not, that should result in fault code 73. I would update the older unit to firmware version 72.00, and try again to parallel them. Since 72.00 and 92.00 have the same minor version number (00), they should hopefully be compatible. Firmware version 72.00 is available from this forum. Edited March 30, 20232 yr by Coulomb
March 31, 20232 yr Author The firmware displayed on the panel is 92.00 for u1 and 102.73 for u2 trying to load any 71 or 72 firmware results in error 32 using usb or serial method the inverter makes some internal noises…. Probably changing state… but then comes up with 32 after a few seconds.
March 31, 20232 yr Author Thank you Coulomb. Updating the older inverter to 72.00 seems to have done the trick. I changed the output mode on the newer inverter to parallel and the display is now showing it as SL

So you're saying that you were able to load firmware version 72.00 on a machine that came with version 92.00, and that appears to work? If so, I'm guessing that the 72.00 firmware is only missing the call to the calibrate function in the TMS320F28066 DSP processor's internal ROM (Read Only Memory, mask programmed, not changeable ever). That might lead to decreased accuracy of measurements. Though it may be no worse than the '2809 processors are now. It may be possible to patch a 72.00 firmware to make it call this function, but first it would be imperative to definitively check that you have a '28066 processor. Otherwise, the call to the non-existent calibrate function in a '2809 so early on would almost certainly crash and brick the inverter, requiring a new control board. I don't know what the implications are of not calling the calibrate function at power-up. Do measurements like battery, PV, AC in and AC out voltage seem accurate? These are fairly easy to check with a multimeter.
April 1, 20232 yr Author I updated the inverter which had 71.97 to 72.00 and left the one with 92.00 intact. They now seem to talk to each other ok
