Hi guys!
There is a way to enable island mode (or "pure off-grid mode") on a MIN TL-XH (grid-tie) without Backup Box? Maybe using Enable+/Enable- pins of SYS COM port as is possibile to do on Huawei SUN2000 (as shown here)??

thanks

What do you want to achieve during the off grid?

If you want to just disable export then the setting is there.

nono i do not want disable the export, i want get energy from the inverter during grid absense period (in my area they are common unfortunely)

But it does provide backup from battery when there is no grid. This is part of a Hybrid inverter.

May be I'm missing something.

What is your backup AC source?
Without an AC source that inverter will not produce AC as it is a grid tie inverter.

If you have a backup AC source then you could simply use a manual transfer switch or an automated transfer switch to change over to the backup AC source.
If automated transfer switch then the loss of grid ac would be the islanding signal.

backup AC source is the inverter 😅 please take a look to this video

basically, on huawei sun2000, you just need to close the contact between Enable- signal and GND to put the inverter in island mode and continue to perform AC to the house. Of course you need to build a circuit (for example a contactor on the main grid input) for disconnect phisically the grid. The guy in the video used an interlocked interruptor to disconnect the grid.

I would know if on the Growatt MIN TL-XH i can do the same "hack"...

You would then need to check the install manual to see which pins give the island signal.
That would be from the communications port.
Your guess about the port 1 & 2 seems to be close, but if you check the manual it seems you would use one of the relay ports. And then set the function correctly in the settings panel.

yes, but the guy in the video use Enable- and GND on the huawei. this is the pinout on COM port of sun2000

This image is not for the inverter your post title says you are using Growatt MIN TL XH without backup box so then you must refer to the manual for that inverter.
I can find the MIN 2500-6000 model cannot find the one you are referring to sun2000

Just be carefull not safe yto do this sort of hack.
I am not sure if the growatt will have that same hack working.

Else just refer to 1st suggestion and setup a small backup AC source to provide the "fake grid" to allow the inverter to generate. Be 100% sure to disconnect from the real grid 1st. Use a decent transfer switch :)

sure i just checked the pinout of my inverter growatt.

i posted the pinout of huawei for you to see which pin has used the guy in the video to find some similitude with Growatt.

Btw i think Enable- and Enable+ are used by the BMS to activate or deactivate the island mode, for this in the video the guy use just Enable- closed to GND 🤔

Sorry for giving wrong answers. I was confused just more than normal. This is a pure grid tied that is ready for storage with the BDC box.

I cannot offer any suggestions.

Thanks to @WannabeSolarSparky

for confirming it is a pure grid tied inverter.

Hi WannabeSolarSparky!

after some busy days i'm thinking about your idea to provide "fake grid"...i think you mean through an UPS right?

but what happens at UPS when inverter continue to generate? the energy provided by inverter could damage the UPS? The AC connection between inverter and the house loads is the same, on my inverter i have not EPS output 🤔

If you know what i mean 🙏
