Charlene
I am not an installer or even an electrician. My installer/electrician replaced our old Inverter which was damaged with a power surge with a Sunsync 8kw inverter. We have a LifePo battery which has a BMS but the two management systems are not connected. How do I connect them. From what I can see the inverter has and available comms port 2 - the Battery only seems to have a can plug With the battery I got a cable with a can plug and a rs232 plug on the other side - does the 8kw inverter have any way I can use the rs323 plug I really hope you can make some suggestions
p_i
For anybody to assist you you'll have to give us more information, like the brand and model of the battery. If you don't see that, photos of the specsheet of the battery (should be on a label somewhere on it), along with maybe a photo of the battery. p_i
Photo is only a requirement if you can't find the brand/model of the battery. Knowing what the battery is would help us to guide you in terms of cabling. But if you already found the specification for the cable, none of this is needed. Charlene
Hi Again I will add some picture - I am looking for photos. What I have found in the manuals etc - snippets belowmanual snippets.docx On top is a description I found in the installation manual for our battery. the cable provided had pins 1, 7 and 8 set on in the can cable - on the other side it has a rs232 plug - Sunsync 8kw inverter does not have such a plug. So I can not see what pins are set - It does have can plug so I will have to have the cable change and a can plg added and the correct pins set. should i set the same pins or match the can pins ? - the same number of pins are set and a simple conversion can be done
p_i
No, the Sunsynk normally uses the CAN or RS485 ports for connecting to batteries. The RS232 port on the inverter is usually occupied by the wifi dongle which is used to manage the inverter.

The guys who installed my system put surge protectors on the input and output sides of the inverter.
