zizu
Hi In process of installing an Inverter & battery I was told that the DB must have 1 mains switch to switch off power to the DB...this is a compliance requirements (apparently) but i want to put a changover switch that allows the DB to be powered by the inverter when i choose. The inverter will have a separate switch to isolate its input as well. so now i have 2 "mains switches" in the DB, One for the grid input and other for the inverter input. is this compliant? or should i install 1 X 4 pole mains switch...breaking both grid and inverter power at the same time. help...tx! Eurard
Personally, my DB has ONE mains Breaker. After that it really doesn't matter how you break and split the line, cause each and every breaker, for every part of your house in essence splits the line as well, but in smaller Amps, if you overload the split line, the breaker trips first cause it is less than the 63Amps. So you need one 63A breaker and smaller ones afterwards, I think he means you cant have two 63A breakers in line? Your inverter also has a max A input, and you match this with a breaker. So you will basically have mains coming in, through the 63A breaker etc, and then to a breaker that matches the inverter and to your inverter input, from inverter out you can feed to your breakers in DB. So all your breakers currently Live connected from the 63A breaker will be fed by the inverter Live, so the 63A live connect will removed and replaced to be fed from inverter side. So I make sense? What is critical is to not mix up the Neutrals! *** this is how I understand it, to be corrected by someone with more knowledge *** Edited June 1, 2023 by Eurard
