This age old argument about price, seeing as I've been looking around something fiercely, I came across this interesting pricing ...

Infinisolar 5KW Plus Solar Hybrid Inverter - R 36,792.00 incl
Optional extras:
No idea ... anyone?

Victron MultiPlus 48/5000/70-100 4000W Inverter/Charger R 27 096.60 incl
SmartSolar MPPT 150/85-MC4 (48V-85A) - R 9 532.90 incl
Total: R36 629.50 incl
Optional extras:
+ Victron Venus GX - R 4,094.30 incl OR get the software free and used your own RPi and you have ESS with BMV.
+ VE.Direct to USB for controller and Mk3 cable for inverter, wot, odd R1500?
+ Ziehl if you want to go legal.

See here: https://thepowerstore.co.za

Both options need a BMV monitor.

If the multiplus charger had a higher input voltage , that would be a hands down winner

True, if you need high volts for long distances and can add the min panels for the Infini's MPPT's to startup.

I also see the Infini Plus has 2 MPPT's.
150/85 on 48V is 4850 Watt array. One could go smaller and have 2 MPPT's totaling the same wattage, same as Infini.
Or add another 150/85 later if that blows your hooter.

One could also keep inverter close to array, and send the 220v the long distance.

Point is the combinations one can apply to the Blue kit, as it is separate components, can become quite ingenious, if one is not forced to go long distance between array and inverter.

What is distance limit of say a 145v line on 4mm, 6mm and 10mm wire?

For future proofing, it is nice to be able to go for a smaller array, and extend that as you need more.

The Infinisolar 5k plus is the one invert i would not buy from the Voltronic stable. The price has come down considerably (it to be a shade under R50k) but I think it is hopelessly overpriced.

The Infinisolar 5K plus has two MPPTs with max of 900VDC  and roughly 10000W.  A bit of an overkill on a 5kW inverter in my opinion.
