do you think it will be able to keep the batts at 100% soc?

Seems like it was designed to do so. Although the charging amps stated in the Data sheet is not what I would expect for a 250Ah battery, I guess they have designed it for keeping the battery at 100% SOC with an Occasional discharge.

The adjustable Trickle voltage meets the standby volts of your Sonic's, but the Quick Charge voltage is a bit lower than the Cycle voltage of the Sonic's..

I guess it will function well as a backup..

On UPS'es, the larger ones, the charge current is the marker.

What this means  (copied from the spec sheet), on a 36v bank, I'm not sure: 11A at normal line & normal temperature (Average) 5000 - 30A

Rule of thumb: On a 12v inverter:
100ah battery, you need min 10amps.
200ah battery, min 20amps.

etc.

hi gents, what is your take on this ups, see attached. i have 3 good 250ah sonic agm batteries which i would like to use with it. do you think it will be able to keep the batts at 100% soc? is the price of 7k [ex batteries and vat]  for the 3kva unit too high?

thanks in advance! :)

You may want to consider going for the Axpert King. It is effectively a online UPS. Comes in both a 3kVA (24v) and 5kVA (48v).

I think Gabriel is trying to utilize 3x batteries after 1 failed if memory serves correctly.

I used the same inverter for a long time which I installed when the rolling blackouts started to bite - it was great. I initially used a different unit which would often cause my PC's/TV's/Amps etc to restart at changeover but that stopped when replaced with this inverter. I removed it when I installed the PV system and it is now resting in my storeroom.

The 5kVA unit has a 30A charger which is perfect for your bank - don't forget the battery balancer!

But the 5 kVa is a 48Volt unit, thought you said

Oops, you are correct - I have a 5kVA unit and it is 48V. The 3kVA is 36V but with 11A charger.

The 3kVA would work fine as a UPS type backup system, but not for cycling duty.

would you consider active service for it again? :)

edit... you just mentioned it is the 5kva unit and 48v, so i cant use it...

jip, you're right. i now have 3x250ah monsters which in series will give 36v and can be used with an ups in my wife's practice. as power outages are not a daily occurrence i believe the batteries should last long in that environment. regarding the battery balancer, yes, i still have one and it will be used.
