Posted October 8, 20186 yr Got back at 3pm today. Geyser on EV solar and all unnecessary things switched off... Only CCTV, alarm, electric fence, LED security lights (Yes I live in Gauteng), ADSL (for remote viewing and Efergy energy tracking) and 2 x fridges. Now I have a very good idea what my absolute essentials are... All this could have been on solar PV in the day time atleast

Works great, bought it from Ellies in Pretoria. https://www.ellies.co.za/product/efergy-home-hub-kit/ I paid R770. I also order 2 additional CT with WiFi from Efergy in Spain so I can measure multiple circuits. I think this cost me R1300 plus postage. The worst thing is I bought it a month ago and it has still not "arrived" SAPOS

Another 4 months has passed and nothing yet. I reordered my stuff and paid the courier option. Was delivered to my door 8 days later. Won't ever opt for postal services again. My broadbandhad recently did a test in SA sending mail from different city's. The fastest the mail got delivered was a Fast mail letter from a post office to the adjacent (neighboring) post office, if I remember correctly, it took 11 days. The results were posted on day 18 or 19 and by that time only 1 letter were delivered. The report stated that you could wait up to 3 months to receive a letter, that is if you receive it at all.

You can also download the data (per minute or hour) and import into excel. Also it must have an internet connection as the data must be uploaded.

Not possible on the Home Hub Kit, in fact the only buttons are on the CT unit and it is to setup the Wi-Fi.

I usually have no problems with Amazon, because they courier. I knew I was buying from another seller -- who uses their platform -- and not amazon themselves, but I mistakenly assumed their system would be the same as for Takealot: Where Takealot still handles delivery. My order got split. The Amazon part was couriered, and the "JB Tools" part got sent via post office for a whopping 28USD shipping fee. I suspect that's R800 down the drain. In the mean time I am still looking for a decent one-man brake-bleeder kit, preferably costing less than 4k because this is just for me in my home... I don't run a friggin shop.

December 10, 20186 yr Just my 2c on this. Those Efergy units are great but rather inaccurate. You pre-program your voltage and it measures current and then add the together. KISS operation. The problem is that in a single day our voltage could fluctuate between 200V and 230V. In theory the Ampere should fluctuate accordingly but many appliances will only still use their rated current, so the wattage on those appliances also fluctuate.

I had an Efergy unit installed next to my "proper" Landis & Gyr meter so could easily compare values - they were typically 10% out, but sometimes up to 20% different. The effergy also cannot compensate for the Power Factor of the load, so will typically give a larger power reading than actual. They are still usefull to get a ball-park idea of power use and specifically power use at different times of day. Edited December 10, 20186 yr by NigelL

I have now had mine connected for over 3 months and I have just added 2 additional units. I compare the readings with my prepaid meter everyday and the Efergy readings are always more but ever so slightly, at most 1kW for the whole day.
