What exactly did this "upgrade" that you attempted entail? Did you try a Firmware upgrade perhaps? What Firmware did you have and what Firmware did you use? Have you tried to reboot whilst pressing the reset button?

Growatt in their wisdom has had four editions of the same Inverter up to now. The first two series were all Firmware 040/041. The subsequent series were the 067/068 and the latest ones are actually 113/114. If you flash the incorrect series Firmware then yes, it is probably bricked. If you know what the original Firmware was on yours, then perhaps you can try and reflash that series. Worth the try. You would need 4 12V LA batteries in series to hook up to see if it will start up if you suspect a battery power supply issue. zsde
You need to know your original series Firmware. i.e. if your Inverter had 040 and 041 it will always be 040 and 041. They started off with 040.01 and 041.01. The last Firmware for that series was 040.06 and 041.06 Their controller board hardware changed over the last 2 years and that entailed new Firmware being rolled out together with the new hardware. Have a look at this post from Aug 2022 that also contains the Growatt links to the docs.
Dannyuk
hi again zsde. thanks for your nice explanation. how can i figure out about the software that it was on it? the inverter is completely stuck, bricked. there is no way to restart it. is there a label or a chip that could help me to figure out about the software that it needs? thanks a lot in advance and sorry to bother you Edited November 10, 2023 by Dannyuk
zsde
The match up of serial number and Firmware version is unbeknown to me. The original 5000ES models had bespoke AC connectors sticking out at the bottom of the Inverter. Also it had two sets of parallel MC-4 connectors at the bottom. If your's has that then it will be Firmware 040/041 The later models did away with those and all connections are now done with screw type terminals inside the bottom cover. Perhaps check with Growatt International Rep if he can give you the Firmware version based on the serial number You can mail or Whatsapp Amos in China +8613267189226 [email protected] Edited November 10, 2023 by zsde
