Posted November 20, 20186 yr Does VRM Portal show the battery temperature value if the sensor is connected to the Quattro instead of the BMV? From the available widgets it seems it's doesn't unless I am missing something. Does it still use the sensor value for charging even though I also have a BMV-700 in the system? Thanks, Ingo

You can however connect a temperature sensor (not the same as the one that comes with the Multi) to the BMV, and then use Shared Temperature Sense on the CCGX to share that temperature with the Multi. Then you get the best of both worlds.
November 20, 20186 yr Author Thanks for the info. I guess I would then need a 702 if I want to see the temperature values rather than my current 700.
November 20, 20186 yr If you have a VenusGX, it has a batt temp sensor port, top right. Just need to buy the right cable i.e. Temp sense for QUA, MP , Venus. Since I spent wot, R380 for the cable, I can see my batt temp on VRM portal.
November 20, 20186 yr Author I noticed the supplied Quattro sensor is the same for the Venus so will just move it over.

The BMV has a different temperature sensor because it also has to carry positive power from the battery on the one wire (it replaces the normal positive cable going to the shunt). The temperature sensor that ships with the Multi/Quattro doesn't do that, it's just a sensor. I think it's also different on the inside re NTC vs PTC but I cannot remember.
November 20, 20186 yr Author I moved the supplied Quattro sensor to the Venus but the portal still doesn't give any reading. I think the Portal widget uses ID 258 which is the BMV. Are there any tricks to enable the Venus Temperature readings? I did reboot the device.
November 20, 20186 yr Author Oops... Too hasty!!! I found it under Analogue inputs and enabled it. It then updated the portal with a new widget ID (23).
