JP Trauernicht
Hi all! I want to ask some advice from the Victron experts on this forum. I work for a solar company and currently have a Deye 5kw installed at my home (Deye 5kw + 1 x Volta 5.12kw battery with no panels) and I have the oppertunity to swop my inverter for a Victron Quattro 5kw with a Fronius Grid-tied inverter. The Victron is just the inverter, no cerbo or anything else. I will add solar panels at a later stage, so the Fronius wont do anything initially. Is this a worthwile swop? Thank you for reading! Kalahari Meerkat
@JP Trauernicht, trauriche affäre ... it seems the Quattro has solar input as well, in which case, functionally it seems to be quite similar to the Deye 5kW inverter, ok, it cannot feed back to the grid, but in most cases this would probably not be something you'd want to do. As long as the Quattro is the 48V version and not the 24V, it may well be a worthwhile swop, if you can pull it off, but ensure that my understanding of the Quattro is correct and that it does have solar charge capabilities and not that you need to add a SCC separately to this inverter. I don't own a Quattro, but based on reputation and all, Victron is supposed to be closer to the top of the line in terms of solar equipment, up to now, though, too expensive for my pocket... Edited July 26 by Kalahari Meerkat spelling & grammar are really going down the tubes... JP Trauernicht

Thank you for the prompt response! The Quattro is indeed the 48v version, and feeding back into the grid is not really an option in our area (Pre-paid). The Quattro does have solar charge capabilities, thus why I had the Fronius in mind.

Maybe bear the specs in mind. I think the Victron is 5kVA as opposed to 5kW, with only 4kW real power rating. On the other hand the pass-through of 50A is quite good compared to the Deye's 32A or thereabouts. Also with the low-frequency vs high-frequency design, also the AC-coupling vs DC coupling conversion to storage, it's not a straight 1-to-1 comparison. Your application could be a deciding factor. Thank you for I think it would be a worthwhile swop the Quottro+ Fronuis much higher monetary value than the Deye 5kw. Just confirm the Quattro part number 48/5000/70-100/100 with 10kw peak power and 2 x 100A feed through current Unfortunately I don't think the Quattro comes with a solar charge controller you will have to get a seperate Victron SCC. Correct, the Phoenix, Multiplus I and II, Multigrid and Quattro inverter range does not have a SCC, the Easy solar I and II and RS smart solar are the inverter range with built in MPPT's. Jakac
Quattro is a low frequency inverter and i would swap without thinking but i will keep the other for backup .. of the backup. JP Trauernicht

Thanks Talia! It is indeed the exact 48/5000/70-100/100, so was also thinking along the lines of monetary value and considering that I don't have panels yet it would work out perfectly. Luckily not located in the Cape, but that is good to know! Any idea why the Victron's are not on the CoCT approved list out of interest sake? Lately CoCT even don't want to approve off grid inverters AFAIK.
