Is charging current spikes normal ?

I am checking my felicity battery charger graph and I found that there are many spikes and drops

The behavior of sharp drops and fluctuations in current suggests that the BMS is working to balance cells and protect the battery. This could be a normal charging pattern if the battery management system is adjusting to ensure safety and longevity. However,

I am concerned that this could be un healthy behavior and due to issues not due to BMS balance

I am guessing the spikes is due to your solar input power spiking, so perfectly normal. To make sure that is the case, also plot your PV input power. If they overlap then it is the PV that is causing the spikes.

I assume it should overlap in all cases , as when changing drop the PV should drop as well

However I attached it and many thanks for your help

I don't think it is to much of a problem seeing from your graph the pv current is fairly low so the battery is not supported by solar. The spikes and valleys originates from your ac load. Have a look at your Soc graph that should be fairly smooth. My graph basically the same varying load creates the spikes and valleys. I have a 10kwh lfp battery.

@Tarek Yag as you have Lithium battery. And I assume we are in the same region with same temperature and environment

does your battery behave the same ?

It's never possible to be a balancing issue since all cell balancers use a tiny amount of current to balance the cells (1-5 A) in two modes (Passive and Active)

It is indeed, but without this graph it was impossible to determine if it's a problem or not in your system

Perfectly SPOT ON!

@esmail-kassir, in my own opinion and understanding, this is happening solely because of repetitive sudden high AC loads for a few minutes, such as motor starts. Without enough high PV Power input, just like @TaliaB observed, the behavior is totally normal.
