Evening guys,

Just a note that one of our members, Jaco de Jongh, is in hospital with a broken hip after a work accident, if you want keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Yes, spoke to him and very sorry to hear that he injured himself.  Be safe you guys when working up high.

all the best Jaco, hope the pain meds is good. if me i would go the repair route than replace.........

I second that.  After 3 hip replacements, I realize it's a bit of a hit and miss affair.  Right hip replaced 2001 and redone in 2010, still not lekker.  Left one done in 2003 and I cannot tell the difference from the original

It's not the age Jaws. I fell from about 5 meters high.

5 m fall !!!!

That`s insane Jaco, you can be lucky to come off with only a broken hip !!.

Although the stats below is bit weird in that it seems like its best to fall from 26-30 feet instead of 6 feet

Thanks all. I was discharged yesterday. They decided to mend all the fractures with screws and plates. If the head of the femur doesn't die off in the next 3 months, a hip replacement won't be needed. I am also sitting with some cracked bones in my left hand,, cracked bones in my right foot, a big hole on the back of my right leg and a big cut on the right arm. The cause of the hole in leg and cut on the arm, could not be determined yet. Head and face also bruised with a few cuts and scratches and or coarse a broken nose.

We get complacent, so use to working on a ladder that we forget some basics. To all of you out there getting on the roof and doing some installations, please please please be carefull, an accident like this happens in a blink of an eye and believe me this is not fun at all. I was in traction for a week before they went in and operated, 15 days in hospital in total , and now only the learning to walk again starts.

Please take care of yourself.

in my case i believe that would be the fall to end all falls - whether 5 or 50 meters... same outcome... bottom line, well done jaco 🙄 praise the Lord, it could have been much worse 🙌
