Gabriël
apart from the obvious fact that we as males should be a 'natural' attractant to this forum , is there not a way to get some female inputs/participants; maybe a kitchen section - i am not being a male chauvinist here, my bona fides should be apparent

Which incidentally also runs VirSeker. It's all marketing, they can't beat Santam even if we put the insurance in my wife's name. For better or worse, I am actually opposed to the idea of making things "easier" for women (as if they need help). There's generally 20 women in teaching and nursing for every guy, and conversely, there's 20 men into plumbing for every lady, and this isn't necessarily because anyone needs help. I am however open to a discussion about anything that might be holding willing participants out in some artificial way. That is never right. So what do we call "plugs" and "sockets" now ? Clearly this is not gender neutral ? What if the plug really thinks it wants to be a socket ? Can we still deny that ? ___
Well, I suppose my previous post might seem heartless. My point is that the moment you make a "special for women" product, a "pink" product, that in itself becomes a generalisation about what you think women want. The other faux pas you mentioned was talking about a Kitchen section. I know a few women who'd give you a nice big klap for that...

___
2 minutes ago, Gabriël said: mitigate the 'klap Fair enough This is a problem as old as the mountains. In software engineering there is also a profound lack of ladies. The funny thing was that my wife once explained to me (she is in software) that the problem isn't that the field is too manly... the problem is rather the reverse, that men in software are often overweight, bleak from lack of sunlight, long bearded and so forth weirdos. Many of her male colleagues are in fact LESS what we might traditionally call "manly", in the sense that they can't change the wheel of a car, can't bump-start or sometimes even jump-start a car, call an electrician to fix a light switch, and so forth... So while I reject the narrative that this is simply "the patriarchy", I do admit there appears to be impediments
