Has anyone here done something like this before?

Check the "Fan replacement and direction" section of the index (first post) of the AEVA PIP-4048MS topic. In particular, this one, titled "Original fans put back, due to the fan locked warning issue." You might have better luck, or might not care about the occasional fan locked warning.

Also, the 1200 VA models may well have different fan lock hardware  and/or firmware, or may not check the fan speed at all.

I'm also keen on changing the fan, will be interested in following this thread.

I'm getting mine sometime next week buy I've heard the 2400va before.

Does your 1200va fan switch off after full charge or remain on?

Unfortunately this unit is very different to mine.

I cracked mine open to have a look around and it looks like it doesn't have the normal 3 pin connector (or pinout) to normal desktop fans.

Yes sir. I think the gen 1 units didn't turn off but this is the newer one.

I also have the Mecer 1200va and has been charging the battery since 8pm last night it is now 9pm 😕 the fan has not stopped once in this period. We have another one also running its fan 24/7 this house sounds like a data center.

It started beeping uncontrollably 🙄

Probably due to a fault code 01 (error 01), "fan is locked when the inverter is off".

Is there any way to disable this? The fan i used was a CPU cooling fan, I don't quite understand why it would cause this issue since the only difference between the two fans is the amperage. Two of my colleagues have this same inverter and reckon the fan does quieten when battery is charged. I have two 33ah Gel batteries run in parallel that have been charging for days, surely this is too long?

Nothing I know of. It seems a little crazy to restrict a product to a small number of non-standard components.

I've had thoughts of generating pulses from a 555 timer chip, but it just seems a silly amount of work for something that should be so simple.

I just got a new one (2022) and the fan stays on the entire time. It makes even more noise while it's charging, but the default On state is still really loud. Is yours IVR-1200MPPT? Thanks.
