Posted April 4Apr 4 Hi AllI have 2 x 5kwh Freedom Won batteries and 8kw Sunsynck inverter. I have a switch over on my Eskom Incomer circuit breaker. I want to charge my batteries using my 7500w Ryobi generator by just switching over to generator at the Eskom main incommer. I adjusted my battery charging amps to 10A and switched over but my Inverter showed grid as 0w and had no response. Is it possible to charge my batteries using my generator connected to the main incomer and how do I go about it? Thanks
April 4Apr 4 What's the frequency and voltage on the output side of the generator? Under a load. Most inverters in SA will be set for the SA grid code, so if voltage or frequency varies too much the inverter will ignore the generator. The inverters do this for incoming mains as well.
April 4Apr 4 Also try to put n load on the Generator before connecting. The generator needs to ramp up it revs to keep the voltage and frequency stable. Edited April 7Apr 7 by Jacques Ester
April 4Apr 4 @Francois Taljaard ,Isn't a Genny supposed to be connected via the AUX port? That's what I thought it can be used for. Other than driving Loads via settings.Just read up about the settings.

Any load that you currently have on the "Aux" port, could either be moved to "Essentials" side (and controlled via a Wifi Switch) orMove then to the "Non-Essectial" side, so they only work from Solar when Grid is available i.e. just before the CT-coil location. Then the "Aux" port is free to use as "In" port permanently for Genny, Micro Inverters, or even Wind power.
July 1Jul 1 HiI had the same problems. The solution is in my post "Connecting a 5KW Generator to an 8KW Sunsynk inverter". Edited July 1Jul 1 by Peter Topp
