___
Hi all, Anyone have an idea what kind of scrap value you get for a battery? Per kilogram? As a reference perhaps, how much for something like a car battery or a Trojan T105? TIA
Jakes
We've got 100's of kg's of scrap automotive batteries and I was wondering if they could be worth something. I phoned Fry's Metals in Wadeville some months ago to find out. They take the batteries with the acid still in them and pay you R8.10 (VAT excl) per kg. ___ and Clint
___
So an old Trojan T105 (at around 30kg) could fetch over R200... that fits in with what I heard. Once again I have some ulterior motives. At some point my old batteries have to move on... either to be sold really cheaply to someone who can still use the remaining capacity, or to be scrapped. Considering that they have considerable scrap value, it means even an old battery is still worth something as long as it has some capacity left. viceroy
Hey guys, Last week I gave First National Batteries a call, and they don't accept small amounts of batteries. They referred me to a place in Benoni which offer R9.50 per kg and they happily accepted my 12 scrapped batteries.
